MEE is excited to start work with The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation in May on an important new health project in 2026 to collaboratively create innovative communications and marketing strategies to effectively engage and support communities of color across the country.

The Foundation is the leading non-profit organization focused on both research and patient support for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). MEE’s upcoming work will support the Foundation’s missions of curing Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and improving the quality of life for the millions of Americans living with IBD.

The Strategic Marketing Plan MEE will create for the Foundation will be focused on driving enrollment, engagement and retention of Black and Hispanic patients in an online, direct-to-patient (D2P) research registry that gives them access to advances in treatment, opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research and connects them to others living with IBD. The registry will also offer access to expert information, news and educational resources.

Bringing a trauma-informed lens to every project has allowed MEE to gain deep insights into the daily lives and challenges that must be considered when attempting to get Black and Hispanic communities to engage with health systems, treatments and technologies.

PA colleagues, connect with MEE at next week’s annual Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs symposium!

It's a great time to share innovative ideas for addressing the SUD and opioid-related disparities that are leaving too many PA communities out of the latest treatments and recovery-support services.

Ivan Juzang presents at an 11:30 breakout session. Stop by and hear a successful case story from MEE’s Connect Protect Recover campaign in Allegheny County. Or say hello during the Networking Lunch. Hope to see you there!

Across America, state- and county-level health and human-services organizations continue to face uncertainty, while at the same time they’re under increasing pressure to deliver measurably positive population-health outcomes, including expanded access to care, crisis and recovery services. Resources are more scarce, yet, the needs in the community are now greater than ever.

MEE’s workshops and trainings are designed to rapidly strengthen the skills, strategies, and confidence of your staff, providers, coalitions and grantees—so they can educate, equip, and empower communities. MEE’s unique training model transfers skills that allow participants to take what they have learned and apply it (with community-engagement digital toolkits to execute the learnings) in real-time.

We can maximize your impact, even with reduced funding, less staff and fewer resources, by using effective, scalable strategies and tactics guaranteed to engage the communities most impacted by scarcity and at-risk for increasingly negative health outcomes.

We focus on outcome-oriented, evidence-informed approaches that help teams work smarter and more collaboratively to ensure that all population-health initiatives are “getting to real health outcomes.” This improves the agency’s overall communications capacity and ability to expand or build trusting relationships with communities most in need.

MEE’s decades-long commitment to improving life outcomes in overlooked and underserved communities was featured in a spotlight profile this past weekend on Action News (6abc) in Philadelphia. The piece also pays tribute to some of the brightest minds in Black psychology and African/African American culture, who poured into MEE’s leadership and vision.

MEE thanks 6abc and its Community Photojournalist, Tim Mader, for their Black History Month profile on MEE and the brilliant African-American scientists (now ancestors) who taught us their approaches to “protective factors” as a way to move our communities beyond survival mode.

MEE is excited to announce that our work with the Louisiana Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (LCLPPP) was recently highlighted as one of fifteen success stories on the CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program website.

There were three criteria used by the CDC to select the success stories:
1) Was this initiative innovative or groundbreaking, highlighting efforts that have not been previously undertaken by the agency?
2) Did the initiative present a best-practices approach that can be replicated by other programs?
3) Was the work impactful, and did it effectively convey the program's achievements?

Email [email protected] for more information on how MEE can help make your lead prevention, surveillance, technology, and outreach initiatives more successful.

The MEE Team is excited about another award-winning video production in behavioral-health storytelling. We just learned that one of our awareness-raising videos addressing health disparities for the Connect Protect Recover (CPR) Community-Engagement Campaign in the greater Pittsburgh area won a bronze award in this year's 46th Telly Awards. The CPR Campaign’s “Original Spoken Word Poem” social media video was selected in the General-Motivational & Advice category (social media content meant to inspire and offer advice).

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honors excellence in local, regional and national video, digital and television made for all screens. Each year, there are more than 12,000 entries, from all 50 states and 5 continents. Nominees are judged by The Telly Award Judging Council, a group of industry leaders from some of the most prominent companies in entertainment, publishing, advertising and emerging technology.

The winning entry was one of nearly 50 social media, educational and family-testimonial videos that MEE has created as part of the Connect Protect Recover Campaign for the Allegheny County Department of Human Services/Office of Behavioral Health. The Campaign focuses on addressing health/SUD disparities in access to services by helping BIPOC families be prepared to support loved ones struggling with addiction, including finding the SUD treatment and recovery programs that best meet their needs and situations.

Longtime creative partner Javier Sanchez wrote and delivered the poem that drives the video storytelling. Video editing and post-production was done in-house by the MEE Team. Together, they focused on creating a piece that would reach families impacted by addiction with real stories about the recovery journey, delivered creatively and in ways that reflect the culture.
