MSSI-501: Digital Textile Printing
Plot twist: it’s not magic, it’s Hitoshi. 🧙‍♂️✨
With Jess and Steven in the lab cooking up prints like it’s Top Chef: Textile Edition.
We came, we saw, we color-managed.

Steamed the fabric, sublimated the color, and pushed pixels into pigment. 🔥🖨️💨
Color, chemistry, and creativity — all in a weekend’s work.

.m.design's Capstone project "Arcana" features a screenprinted journal that she printed here in the Surface Imaging lab!

“Arcana is made to help people learn the nature of tarot and the benefits tarot has for mental health. Part of Arcana’s mission is to help break the stereotypes of tarot cards and provide information. As tarot is highly personal and personalized, it is important for Arcana to be able to adapt to people’s needs and preferences. Much like meditation, the practice of reading tarot can help with mindfulness and bringing attention to yourself in the present moment.”

Jefferson Visual Communication Design Senior, Nicole Mambuscay ( ) created these samples using the lab here at Surface Imaging for her Capstone project!

After some trial runs, the final product included UV printed metal sheeting as the board, stickers, and tactile "Power-Up Cards" using spot varnish!
