Happy 30th Anniversary to Community Church of Hope! 🎉✨

This weekend, we had the honor of celebrating 30 years of a truly special community rooted in acceptance, inclusion, and unwavering support — especially for the LGBTQIA+ community 🌈💛

Hearing the story of how the church was founded — and seeing how it continues to grow and evolve — was incredibly inspiring. Spaces like this matter, and the impact they’ve made over the years is undeniable.

It was also wonderful to be in the presence of leaders like Mayor Kate Gallego, Congressman Greg Stanton, and Senator Lela Alston, all recognizing the church’s impact 👏

We’re especially proud that Cultural Sponge had the opportunity to support Community Church of Hope with branding and website design in 2023 💻🎨 — helping amplify their mission and extend their reach.

We love partnering with organizations that lead with purpose and heart. 💛

Here’s to 30 years of community, love, and continued impact 🥂✨

Throwback Thursday has us reflecting… 🌈✨

This photo is from 2009 at OUTday PHX (hosted by Phoenix Pride) and AIDS Walk Phoenix (benefiting Aunt Rita's Foundation).

Back then, Cultural Sponge was brand new.

Our founder, Heather, had just experienced three job losses during the 2008 housing crisis. Cultural Sponge was started out of necessity — simply to survive.

What none of us expected was that LGBTQ+ organizations would be among the very first to say “yes” and place their trust in a brand-new business. 🌈🥰

That trust kept the lights on. 💡
And it shaped who we are.

From the very beginning, our work has centered nonprofits and underserved communities — not as a niche, not as a side project, but as the core of our mission.

We don’t just talk about supporting community.
We walk the walk. Literally. 👟

Standing in that street in 2009, there was no way to know Cultural Sponge would still be here 18 years later — still mission-driven, still rooted in purpose, still amplifying organizations that make a difference.

Throwback Thursday is a good reminder:

Purpose isn’t something you manufacture.
It’s something you grow into. 🌱

We are deeply grateful for every organization that trusted us then — and every one we partner with today. 🤍

Today Heather had the opportunity to tour the Phoenix Conservatory of Music (PCM)🎶✨

Heather learned the rich history of PCM and their powerful mission to provide youth with access to music through after-school programs, individual lessons, and just as importantly, a safe, welcoming space to learn, grow, and express themselves 🎼💛

PCM serves children and students of all ages and skill levels and is currently welcoming:

🎵 Students ready to explore music

🎵 Donors who believe in arts access and youth development

🎵 Organizations interested in meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships 🤝

If you’re interested in learning more or would like to schedule a tour, reach out to PCM directly. This is a truly special organization making a lasting impact throughmusic 🎻🌟

✨ Feeling extra grateful this November ✨
Our team at Cultural Sponge have been so busy this month, and we’re feeling incredibly grateful! To all of our clients, partners, and those who trusted us with their referrals: thank you. Your support fuels everything we do at Cultural Sponge. 💛

This month, we proudly launched four new websites (so far!), each with its own unique purpose and personality:

🌟 Carrie Severson
A refreshed, elevated platform that highlights her work as a storyteller, speaker, and leader. Clean, intuitive, and built to support her next chapter.

🎼 The Amarillo Symphony
A massive, elegant site redesign celebrating over a century of music. From concerts and education programs to donor engagement, this site helps bring their mission to life.

💙 AZAFAP (Arizona Association for Foster & Adoptive Parents)
We originally designed their website seven years ago, and it was time for a complete refresh. The new site is fully reorganized and integrated to better serve foster, adoptive, and kinship families - it is responsive, accessible, and built for the future.

🏡 Signature Outdoor Concepts
A bold, modern website showcasing custom outdoor living spaces from luxury landscaping to architectural designs built to attract and inspire homeowners.

As we step deeper into the season of gratitude, We're also feeling incredibly thankful for the team that helps make Cultural Sponge what it is. Most people only see Heather, but behind the scenes is a small, dedicated group, some who have supported Cultural Sponge for over ten years - delivering quality, community-impacting work day after day. We couldn’t possibly do this without them.

Thank you Carmen, Franklin, Lindsey, and Moklesur - your talent, loyalty, and heart mean everything. 🤎

Here’s to a full, meaningful, and grateful November. 🍂✨

🌟 Happy Mission-Driven Monday! 🌟

Excited to share two recent nonprofit websites we've completed - both making an incredible impact in our community:

🍎 Flagstaff Unified School District Foundation - Dedicated to enriching education by raising and distributing vital funds directly to teachers and classrooms. 📚✨

🚒 United Fire Firefighter of the Year - Celebrating Arizona’s brave firefighters who consistently go above and beyond to serve and protect our communities. Recognizing heroism and commitment since 1994. ❤️🔥 United Fire Equipment Company

🧡 Every Child Matters 🧡

On this National Day of Remembrance for Indian Boarding Schools, we, at the San Carlos Apache Office of Tribal Enrollment, honor the memory and resilience of our ancestors. Today, we reflect on the impact these schools had on Indigenous communities while celebrating the strength and survival of our culture and traditions.

Every Child Matters—past, present, and future. As we remember those who were lost or affected, we stand together in unity, healing, and hope for the continued preservation of our identity and heritage.

Let us take this day to honor the stories of our people, uplift our voices, and support the healing journey for future generations. Together, we can create a brighter future rooted in respect, resilience, and cultural pride.

Back to work tomorrow after an incredible week at the TEAMS Conference & Expo! Heather had the privilege of learning about the growing impact of sports tourism and was honored to represent USA Women’s Catchball. Advocating for an organization that champions diversity and women’s empowerment made the experience even more rewarding. Along the way, she connected with amazing professionals, and as the photos show, there was a balance of hard work and fun at Disneyland! A special shoutout to Compete Sports Diversity for introducing Heather to the conference and providing valuable guidance.
