This week I'm reminded once again, attitude is everything. And it gives me SUCH comfort to remember that your wedding day is not about me.
Let me back up.
The last 2 weeks, I've been in a SLUMP that I just could not manage to get out of! I work really really hard so that my couples never feel even a hint of that - but it always feels better when it's a natural outpouring of what's inside. One of the things my dad (and his dad) taught me was, "Smile, even when you don't feel like it! Eventually you'll just start to feel better."
Car karaoke is just one of those wedding day things that gets me in a good mood and headspace, and reminds me... no matter what I have going on in my own life, it all gets put on pause; the next 10-15 hours are about completely serving you.
Back in high school, when I'd be having a bad day, my parents would tell me to go find some volunteer work, go serve someone, go take your focus off of yourself for awhile -- and it ALWAYS worked.
Here's why it's important your wedding vendors understand this as a core principle:
(1) They are your tour guides in many ways to setting the tone of your wedding experience. Even when they're seriously hands off in approach, they are dictating the tone in the art they're creating!
(2) Imagine the alternate world where I entered the wedding day lethargic and low energy. My posture would have been cameras down. Moments missed.
It's not about taking control, or taking attention, or taking over. It's about what kind of attitude your wedding photographer is approaching your wedding day with. Mine is a posture of readiness.
Speaking of, I'm ready to book your 2027 or 2028 wedding. Let's get on it ;)
