The Picayune Fire Department is urging everyone to stay off the roads tomorrow, Monday 2/15/21. The timing of the sleet/freezing rain is forecasted for Monday morning. The temperature will be dropping steadily throughout the day and is forecasted to dip into the high teens by Tuesday morning. We need to remember to protect pipes, plants and pets from the frigid temperatures. If you are using space heaters please keep 3 foot of clearance from combustible materials. Everyone please stay safe and as always our department will be ready to respond to any emergency that may arise in our city.

The City was advised by Norfolk Southern Rail Road that work will be performed on all the City’s railroad crossings. The work will begin on the Martin Luther King Blvd. crossing between 10 and 11 am this morning, 10/22. They will then continue to each rail road crossing until finally reaching the 4th street crossing. Each crossing is scheduled to only be closed between 30 minutes to an hour. Any unfinished work will be completed on Monday 10/26. So please be alert to this work and be safe.
