Today is Women's Equality Day; marking the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment. πŸ’œ We've come a long way, and there's still work to do. I am sooo grateful for every woman who fought for a seat at the table, and for those still holding the door. πŸ₯°

Findability check, week four. This one ties the month together.

Four questions, one for each week. What shows up when someone Googles your name and city? Does your practice have a claimed, correct Google profile? Does your site answer the money question? And do your profile and your site tell the same story?

If you ran all four, you now know more about your own visibility than most practice owners ever learn. The searches are happening either way. People in your area look for a therapist every week and pick from whoever shows up. The only question is whether you're in the picture.

If you'd rather have the full version done for you, I run a paid visibility audit for therapists. Message me and I'll explain how it works.

Writing your own About page is strangely hard. You either sound clinical, like your license paperwork, or generic, like every other calm sans-serif practice site.

The fix isn't better adjectives. It's specificity. Who do you actually help, and what does life look like on the other side of the work? Someone reading your site should feel "this person gets my situation," not "this person is qualified."

Qualified is assumed. Understood is what books the intake.

"Can my website connect to SimplePractice?"

Yes. And it's simpler than the word "integration" makes it sound. I embed or link your booking page on the site. One afternoon, not a custom build. The same goes for most things a therapy site is supposed to need.

Here's the full list of what actually matters: your specialty stated plainly, pages that load fast, a booking path with no friction, and correct contact details everywhere. That's the whole list.

Most of the overwhelm therapists feel about their website comes from a menu of options they were never going to need. The real list is short.

Happy National Sons & Daughters Day! πŸ’› Here's to the little ones β€” and not-so-little ones β€” who make it all worth it. Give yours an extra hug today.

A private-pay client rarely looks at just one thing. They find your directory profile, then your website, then maybe your Google listing. And they compare.

When those tell different stories, trust leaks. The profile lists couples work the site never mentions. The photo is from a different decade than the headshot on your homepage. One lists a fee, the other is silent. None of it is disqualifying on its own, but each mismatch makes a careful person hesitate, and private-pay clients are careful by definition.

The ten-minute fix: open your profile and your site side by side. Same specialties, same photo era, same fee story, same phone number. Boring consistency is what trust looks like from the outside.

The AI worry I hear from therapists is real, but usually pointed at the wrong risk.

The fear is being replaced. The actual threat to a practice is simpler: someone who needs you can't find you in the first place.

AI isn't taking your clients. An outdated, hard-to-find website might be sending them to someone easier to find.

That part you can fix. A clear, fast site that shows up for your specialty and your city matters more this year than any worry about chatbots.
