Most people think they have a reach problem or an algorithm problem. They don’t, they have a behavior problem.
Social media isn’t complicated. It’s not some mystery system you need to hack. It’s just a room full of people. And if you really think about it that way, a lot of what people are doing starts to look off.
Picture it for a second ... You walk into a room. There's conversation happening everywhere. People talking, joking, sharing ideas, reacting to each other.
Then there’s that one guy who walks in, ignores everything going on, and just starts talking about himself. Over and over. New post. New offer. New announcement. No interaction. No awareness. Just noise.
At first people might glance over, but after that, they just tune him out.
Now look at your own posts.
Are you actually part of the room, or are you just adding to the noise?
Be honest about it.
When someone comments, do you respond or disappear?
Do you ever jump into other people’s conversations without trying to sell something?
Are you saying anything that would actually make someone stop and engage, or are you just filling space because you feel like you “should post”?
This is where most people lose.
It’s not just about posting. It’s about acting like a real person in a real environment. Listening. Responding. Adding something worth hearing. Giving people a reason to stick around.
So here's the question ...
If you said your last post out loud in a room full of people, would anyone care enough to respond? Or would they start looking for a way out of the conversation?
That answer tells you everything.
I broke this whole idea down and went deeper into what actually works and what doesn’t.
