4 things I’m weirdly passionate about

Refusing to eat tacos without sour cream

90’s R&B (Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, TLC, SWV, Brandy, and so on)

Bringing a blanket into the movie theater

Helping beauty professionals and wellness providers fill their books, grow their teams, and make more money

They’re some of the hardest working women I know, and they go to work every day to help other women feel their best. They deserve it all, honestly 🫶🏽

I’m trying to help as many beauty and wellness entrepreneurs as possible before the end of the year. So much so, that I made a free podcast that teaches you how to drive more people to your website.

I wanna see more Pittsburgh businesses show up on Google, create their own lane, and fill their books without relying on social media or referrals to be found.

Trust me, it’s possible!

If you’re a hair stylist, esthetician, therapist, makeup artist, doula, or injector, I’m rooting for you big time.

Comment “TDS” and I’ll send you the link to the podcast. There’s only six episodes and I made them super short so you can listen in between clients.

Part 2/5: Let’s talk brand positioning. What do people associate with your brand? How can you shift how people think about it?

This is episode ✌🏽 of treating my brand like my most important client.

Did you find this brand positioning breakdown helpful? Let me know in the poll👇🏽 & don’t forget to hit “follow” for episode 3

I just wrapped up a website rebuild for Dr. Erica Givner & her team at Vision Towards Peace. And I can’t stop thinking about what they said during their consultation a few months ago.

They told me they wanted a new website but they weren’t really looking for new clients. They were booked. Facebook & referrals are putting in work.

So you might be wondering, why even touch their site?

Well the biggest reason was their website was outdated. She thought it felt too dark. Too stiff.

I left our consultation call thinking I would just design a lighter, brighter website but once I actually started digging around, I started seeing a few things that were costing them time and money like:

🖥️ No SEO set up. Which meant every new client had to already know their name to find them online.
🔗 No real internal linking or page structure
📞 A front desk answering the same “do you take my insurance” and “what’s your process” questions over and over.
👤 Providers with only a headshot and a job title, when what actually builds trust with a new client is feeling like you know someone before you ever sit down with them.
💼 No way to apply for a job without going through a third-party site that had nothing to do with VTP

So the “website refresh” turned into:
👤 Full provider profiles that show off every clinicians credibility and personality
❓ A strategic FAQ page to answer the questions their front desk was tired of repeating
🌐 SEO built from the ground up
💻 A careers page that lives on their own site instead of sending applicants somewhere else

Sometimes the real fix you need isn’t just surface level. It’s structural. In The Lab, we figure out the difference.

I’m so excited for the VTP team and can’t wait to see how their website helps them continue to serve the Pittsburgh community. Show them some love in the comments! 💕

Multiple cups of cold brew. One very ambitious to-do list. And more open tabs than I care to count. Welcome to my computer screen recently 🖥️

Swipe to see what’s been living on it, including...
✔ A Webflow website for a psychiatric outpatient clinic
✔ New pages for a hair studio
✔ A wireframe for a private counseling practice
✔ Updated pages for a med spa
✔ A new iMac I’ve definitely NOT been adding to cart at 11pm
✔ And one project I can’t show quite yet... (but there’s a lil sneak peek)

People think web design is “just make it pretty.” But it’s not. Pretty is the easy part.

The real work is the structure, strategy, and planning to make sure the right people can actually find you, book you, and pay you (online).

And that’s exactly what I focus on inside The Lab 🧪

I’ve had a lot of jobs. Boutique owner, YouTuber, college recruiter, agency designer (and the list goes on). But every single one paid me to do the exact same thing: figure out why people buy.

Which I did. I eventually got really good at it, too.

Every seemingly random thing I’ve done has become another skillset in my toolbelt. And nowadays I use them all to build Workhorse Websites for beauty and wellness pros that are pretty enough to make them proud and work hard enough to keep them booked.

(I may be biased, but the full story is better than the CliffsNotes version. Swipe through to see how it all came together.)

And if you’re up to it, let me know the most random job you’ve worked in the comments 👀 I know I’m not the only one who God took the scenic route.
