"Why am I doing all this and still not getting new clients?"

I hear this a lot. And it's a fair question.

You're showing up. You're posting.
You're networking. But the phone isn't ringing the way you want it to.

Why you should never add more to your plate when people aren't calling you back.

More tools won't fix it. More posts won't fix it.

Being busier won't fix it.

I know, because I tried all three.

I was doing a lot. Showing up at events. Posting online. Sending emails. But nothing was sticking. People weren't reaching out. And I didn't know why.

It wasn't because I wasn't working hard enough.
It was because nothing connected. Every effort was made on its own. There was no system behind any of it.

So I stopped adding more. I started getting organized.

I picked one way to reach new people. I built a simple way to follow up. That's it.

In 90 days, I had more focus. More calm. And more real conversations with people who were ready to work together.

Here's your quick win this week:

Write down everything you're doing to get new clients. Circle the one that gets the most response. Set the rest aside - for now.

One thing done well beats five things done halfway.

ince I was 7, I played basketball, soccer, and softball.

Mom signed me up every year at the Annandale Boys Club, where girls were welcome to play.

I loved competitive sports. It always encouraged me to play better and work smarter.

As much as i loved it, I couldn't wait to be 16 years old. I counted the years as they went by.

Why?

At 16, I could play in the adult league with my mother. When the day finally came, I signed up right away. Together, we'd play and switch back and forth as the pitcher and catcher team. I admit Mom was a better pitcher, but I was a better catcher. We have so many memories.

Before Mom and I moved to Pittsburgh, we played in her final season together. She realized it was too hard on her, but she played with all her heart.

We joined the Golden Girls League. A league started by Pepper Davis. The very person who inspired the movie "A League of Their Own."

I'm so honored to have played beside her in her last year of playing softball.

Trapped without a dollar.

I parked in a garage the other morning. I saw at the payment station as I came in, no credit cash only. I thought that worked I have a pocket full of quarters. I was only there for an hour then headed to my car.

I went to the pay station. "No coins, only dollars" was scrawled on a piece of tape covering the coin slot.

I hit help button. No answer.

I checked the turnstile that had an 800 number to call. The person that answered was HR recruiter for parking garage, but advised me to call the number she gave me.

Called that number, they only fix turnstyle but would take a message to call me back since the office was closed at the moment. I hung up.

Called the number on the pay station, the answering machine voice explained that even parking garage turnstiles had bad days just like me and if I was stuck in a garage call 911, they would assist. I hung up the phone.

I looked around for another solution. It was 9am, people were trickling in for work.

The first car I approached was a 30 something man, I half heartedly asked him for a dollar in exchange for my quarters. As I guessed, he shook his head and passed by. I knew he would only have a card. Looking past him, I could see a woman a little older than myself. I smiled. I approached with her with my offer and she pulled out a crumpled dollar hidden in the folds of her wallet.
