Tell us...Should breastfeeding education be taught in high school as part of health and nutrition curriculum? This is a hot debate going on right now. Since prenatal education has proven to increase both breastfeeding initiation and duration rates, why not start it earlier than the prenatal period? Would teenagers carry that knowledge with them to help make eeding decisions for their future familes. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.

September is NICU Awareness Month. Observed every September, this month is to honor families, premature or critically ill infants, and the healthcare professionals who care for them in neonatal intensive care units.

We want to recognize all the IBCLCs here in Pittsburgh that work in all the NICUs. We also want to thank the Mid-Atlantic Mothers' Milk Bank for helping to provide donor milk to all the NICUs.

This is not breastfeeding related but is maternal health related. Miss Uganda 2026 recently wore a stunning dress titled "The Layers of Life". The dress was inspired by the layers of tissue that are cut during a C-section delivery. The Ugandan designer who created the dress, said the finished product was a ā€œcelebration of the strength, beauty and miracle of a woman’s journey in bringing life into the worldā€, with each layer representing ā€œa part of the body, a purpose and a storyā€. Check out this gorgeous dress with a special meaning in the link below.
