Google just released their new AI Search guide, the link in the comments, if you're interested.
The takeaway: AEO, GEO, AI Overviews, or whatever it's called this week, as we have been stating all along, it's founded on SEO at the core.
This means the same basic principles apply: clean technical structure + helpful content + clear entity signals are the foundations of online visibility that help you show up both in AI mentions and classic Google searches.
That's why our clients, who were showing up at the top of Google searches before ChatGPT, continued to generate leads because they are being recommended by AI platforms.
That said, I'm not implying that this is easy as pie, it is not. Best practices in SEO, AEO, GEO, etc., are continuously evolving. But as far as we can see, basic best practices used in SEO continue to pay dividends:
β
Create content your audience is interested in, with in depth topic coverage.
β
Offer a unique perspective and real expertise, avoid repeating what already exists.
β
Clean site architecture, content structure, internal links, and crawlability
β
Work on strengthening your brand and trust signals
Based on what we see with our clients, high quality content will continue to prevail across platforms, as it has with every shift before.
The reason is, AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc, are all relying on the same foundation SEO practitioners like ourselves have been building for decades.
In the end, AI SEO, or GEO, AEO strategy starts with the basics: a distinct brand, a well-structured website, and content topical authority.
