Usually publishers and literary agents have a manuscript wish list (MSWL) but we asked our reading community about their reading preferences.

Here are some books they love (and would like more of!)

Every month we review a South-Asian book with our community.

This month we're reading author Salma Hussain's upcoming Young Adult book, It's Not Over Yet. Check the post with our review!

What books you're reading this summer?

In June, we're discussing Salma Hussain's upcoming young adult book, It's Not Over Yet. The book will release in North America this October.

What would your 10-year-old self jump to do? And in your adult era, what are you saying 'maybe later' to?

Shayar Kunal shared an incredible moment with Bento this spring. It's one of the several translations with powerful, universal emotions we're moved by. The art work is by Ira Nagar.

Find the Hindi poem, 'Do It, ' and its English translation in Bento's 'ARE WE THERE YET' issue #7.

If you're new here, here's a little intro. Peerbagh incorporated as a nonprofit in Austin in 2023. We work with a mission to encourage reading and spotlight South-Asia-inspired stories.

- The name is read as: Pir (someone wise) + baag (garden) or a garden of the wise
- Began as a volunteer-collective in Montreal with digital magazine for children in 2021
- Our work includes: Bento member magazine, Varta Story fest, and the Zubaani podcast

Imagine our surprise when volunteers were able to bring Bento to Srinagar (where the original Peerbagh is located) for the first time!

THANK YOU Afnan, Showkat, Hoor, Sofia, Rukhsar. What a moment!

In 2023-24, the Indian Railways carried over 6.9 billion passengers.

Do you know that the world's highest railway bridge, the world's longest platform, and the world's oldest locomotive, all belong to the Indian railways? Can you guess their names?

Read all about how the Railway started in the Indian subcontinent in Bento's transport and journey issue, shipping now.

[Zubaani Ep 5] was a star-studded episode where we spoke with the incredible Rukhsana Khan whose South-Asia-inspired books have been published since the 90s in the West.

Khan shared her own background as a storyteller and some incredibly helpful craft nuggets.

P.s. books save lives ❤️

The episode is available on Spotify/Apple/ our website. Have a listen, and learn why not peaking early as a writer may actually be a good thing!
