Had a wonderful time at The Greenbrier this week with my husband, attending the West Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association annual conference. I love working with CVBs and tourism based businesses on creative communications strategies. As a native West Virginian, promoting the beauty and true personality of our state comes naturally!

Long time, no post! I thought it was time to say hello, let the world know I’m still here and Pretty Creative PR is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2023! 🥳 I haven’t spent much time on social media over the last couple of years due to other priorities, and business remains busy. I still specialize in media relations, community outreach and crisis communications. I love building and executing comms strategies, and working with clients that value PR as an important part of their business.

Thanks for your continued support of Pretty Creative PR! 👩🏼‍💻💖🎉

Thanks to Solo PR Pro for featuring me and three other PR consultants in this week’s advice post. Very appropriate timing since tomorrow is the 5th anniversary of Pretty Creative PR! 🎉 Going solo turned out to be essential in this stage of life. I’m so grateful for the ability to continue my career while taking care of my family. 👩🏼‍💻

Thinking about becoming a solo PR pro? Four business owners share how they knew it was the right time to start their business.

My office today was the awesome new eMYRge coworking space in downtown Myrtle Beach. I regularly travel between WV and MB to visit my parents and am so glad to have this new remote office! Today, I spent time with community development specialists working to rebuild downtown MB and enjoyed a great work space with open desks, private offices and fast internet. eMYRge is the hub of downtown redevelopment in MB and I’m excited to see the future!

I captured these beautiful flowers in Parkersburg City Park over the weekend. Like me, they’re clinging to summer. Regardless of how badly we want the sunshine and warm weather to stick around and nurture us, seasons change.

A reminder, in case you’re not already doing this: your PR plans should change with the seasons as well. What are you doing for media relations and community outreach this fall and winter? Are you pitching of-the-moment fall stories? Do you have pitches out for winter ideas? Are you working with local organizations on seasonal charitable giving programs or scheduling your own community events?

You should always be working at least three to six months out on your public relations plans. In a world where everything is changing day by day, that sometimes feels impossible. If you need help planning ahead for your PR needs, click the "contact us" link on my page to schedule a free discovery call. Let’s see if we’d be a good fit for working together!

Hi y’all! Emily here, stopping by with my quarterly post. 💖 Social media isn’t my favorite place to hang out, but that doesn’t mean I’m not working. I like to pop in every once in awhile to say hi and see how you’re doing!

Pretty Creative PR is staying busy amid the continued pandemic. I am thankful for clients who understand and are also living through through the ongoing childcare (among many other) challenges it presents. I’m working with some great people on unique public relations projects, and that’s exactly what I hoped for when I started Pretty Creative in 2018. 🎉

A refresher on my services:

💠 I develop and execute strategic public relations and marketing plans.
💠 I provide crisis communications planning and counsel.
💠 I teach marketing and public relations training workshops for small business owners and non-profits.
💠 I speak on topics related to communications and women’s leadership.

I’m also a certified Community Coach through the WV Community Development Hub and love working with community development organizations!

If you or someone you know need PR consulting, please get in touch! You can always find me at [email protected]. 👩🏼‍💻

Let me know how you’re doing, friends! We can all use a check-in and hug during these continued, difficult times. 💞

Thank you WV Community Development Hub and our fearless leader Stacy for facilitating a wonderful Community Coaching Fellowship program over the last year. I graduated from this program earlier this week, and am grateful for the knowledge earned and relationships built. There are so many awesome community development projects and organizations facilitating change across the state we call home. It was refreshing to hear positive discussion of possibilities and revival.⁣

One aspect of my business is leading workshops and developing plans for communities that need help with public relations. As a graduate of the Community Coaching Fellowship, I’m now better equipped to understand the unique needs of these communities and the best techniques for helping them through change. ⁣

Highly recommend this program for fellow West Virginians interested in community development. Follow the WV Hub for details on their next class! ⁣

Hi! It’s me, Emily, your friendly neighborhood public relations consultant. I’ve been on a social media break, so that’s why I disappeared from your feed. Just because social media isn’t my favorite place to hang out doesn’t mean I’m not working, so I thought I’d pop in and say hi! My husband grabbed this shot of me this morning as I was getting ready to film a video. What you see on camera (also attached) is so different from what I see when recording! Please note the use of my mannequin to hold my ring light at the proper height. 😆 Hope you all are doing well! Say hi and let me know what’s going on with you! 💖

Thank you, veterans. Freedom isn't free. As the daughter and granddaughter of veterans, I've seen this firsthand. My dad, CMSgt. Larry Myers, was career military. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2004 with 39 years of service. I tried to find a photo of him in uniform, but you don't think to take photos of someone in their "work clothes" until they're no longer wearing them everyday!

My grandad, Paris Stephens, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was extremely proud of his service and loved to tell stories of his time in the Pacific. Some of his tales appear in, "Common Valor," a book by local author Eric Douglas.

I appreciate all the sacrifices our veterans and active duty service members and their families have made to keep our country safe. Thank you.
