Thank you, veterans. Freedom isn't free. As the daughter and granddaughter of veterans, I've seen this firsthand. My dad, CMSgt. Larry Myers, was career military. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2004 with 39 years of service. I tried to find a photo of him in uniform, but you don't think to take photos of someone in their "work clothes" until they're no longer wearing them everyday!
My grandad, Paris Stephens, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was extremely proud of his service and loved to tell stories of his time in the Pacific. Some of his tales appear in, "Common Valor," a book by local author Eric Douglas.
I appreciate all the sacrifices our veterans and active duty service members and their families have made to keep our country safe. Thank you.
