🚨🚨 NEW DETAILS: Charges Posted Following Controversial Alexandria Arrest
New details are emerging following the arrest of Trey Devon Rosenthal, the man seen in a widely circulated video involving multiple law-enforcement officers in Alexandria.
According to the newly posted booking record, Rosenthal was booked early Saturday morning on four charges:
* Aggravated resisting a police officer with force or violence
* Operating while intoxicated — first offense
* Resisting an officer
* Trespassing/remaining after forbidden
The booking record lists the alleged offenses as occurring around 2:00 a.m. September 13. Rosenthal was booked at 5:46 a.m. and released later that afternoon.
The operating-while-intoxicated charge is now drawing questions from members of the public, as the circulating video does not show Rosenthal operating a vehicle.
That does not necessarily mean Rosenthal wasn’t driving before the portion captured on video. At this time, Investigate Cenla has not obtained the arrest report or probable-cause narrative explaining what authorities allege led to the OUI charge.
The arrest itself is also under intense public scrutiny after video appears to show Rosenthal subjected to multiple Taser deployments and, later, slumped over and apparently unresponsive while still standing before an officer approaches and strikes him in the face.
What happened before the recording began? What is the basis for the OUI charge? And do the charges change your opinion of the force shown in the video?
🔎 Investigate Cenla is continuing to seek records and additional information surrounding the encounter.
Rosenthal is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
