Our Monday Mention!!

USS LST 325 Ship Memorial

Visit the LST-325 in Evansville, Indiana

Visiting a historical museum provides a tangible connection to the past. Through artifacts, exhibits, and interactive displays, museums bring history to life, allowing us to understand the lives, struggles, and triumphs of those who came before us. This deepens our understanding of our society, cultures, and world. Museums serve as valuable educational resources, fostering critical thinking, inspiring curiosity, and preserving our collective memory for future generations.

The Landing Ship Tank, or “Large Slow Target” as the LST was called by her crew, revolutionized amphibious warfare, enabling large-scale landings of troops and equipment on hostile shores. Its design and capabilities influenced the development of subsequent amphibious landing ships.

Our Monday Mention!!

Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum

You will be transported back in time as you walk up the drive to your destination. There, nestled in the City of Marietta, is historic Brumby Hall. Built in 1851, the historic dwelling is now the home of the Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum. The museum has been a mainstay in Marietta since 2003, when it opened in the historic Old Thomas Warehouse building on the Marietta Square. In 2018 it moved to its current location at Brumby Hall and Gardens. With an extensive collection of memorabilia relating to the book and movie, you do not have to be a die-hard fan of Gone with the Wind to enjoy the vast history surrounding one of the world's most beloved books and movies. The book has never left bookshelves since 1936, and the film is the number one box-office movie of all time.
