Clients often tell me they need to market their products or services, and often times, they start talking about the need to emphasize price and quality in their ads. While both of those are very important, when I begin planning the creative portion of their ad campaigns, I often turn to emotions. How does your product or service make someone feel? This GM advertisement does an excellent job of bringing ALLLL the feels to life. They aren't even advertising a current product or service. The auto featured is from the 1960s. But this ad brings to life an inanimate object -- a car, fercryin' out loud -- in such a way that grown men are in tears after watching this. The ad shows how autos -- GM autos -- are a right of passage, a part of the joy in our lives, even when you think they might be a part of the sorrow.
