Behind every business is a story. Our recent collaboration with Sono 1420 Distillery was about more than just whiskey. It was about place, process, ambition, and the people behind a growing Connecticut brand. The result feels less like marketing and more like discovery, and that's the kind of storytelling we believe in.

Onward art director Anthony Stiso turned some heads his neighborhood when he took a blowtorch to a stack of wood in his driveway. Turns out, he was practicing yakisugi the ancient Japanese wood-preserving art.

Explore the Adirondack Mountains with Onward’s project director, Amanda Schiralli-Smith.

Her family’s been camping in the same bucolic spot since 1956, an experience laden with memories of crackling campfires, the call of loons across the lake, and many tents pitched.

How connecting the bridge between being personable and maintaining professional can help you achieve a successful on-camera interview

by Amanda Schiralli-Smith I was sitting in a chair across from a health care executive, expensive cameras flanking me, and I was nervous. It was only my second week at Onward Publishing, and I’d never conducted a video interview before.

In 2010, Onward Publishing had the privilege of collaborating with the City of Seoul and the National Geographic Society on Reflections of Seoul in Four Seasons—a breathtaking photo book celebrating Seoul’s beauty throughout the year.

As part of Seoul’s 600-year celebration, we worked with National Geographic photographer, Jodi Cobb, who traveled through the city in all four seasons, capturing its hidden gems beyond the usual landmarks. From the vibrant autumn colors of Korean Thanksgiving to the heartfelt tradition of Gimjang—when families gather to make kimchi—each season told a unique story of the city’s culture and warmth.

One of the most touching moments? The love padlocks at N Seoul Tower. As Jodi reflected: "When I saw all of these padlocks inscribed with the names of countless couples and their loving sentiments, atop N Seoul Tower, I was truly moved. What an original way to express your feelings, and what a great new tradition for the city."

This project was more than a book—it was a celebration of Seoul’s heart and soul. Swipe through some of our favorite images from the project or view a flip book of the whole publication in the comments ! 📸🇰🇷 https://lnkd.in/eggGYK3N
