Product Spotlight: The Promotional Product Hiding in Your Car

Here's a promotional product category that doesn't always get the attention it deserves:

Automotive accessories.

Think about how much time your customers and employees spend in their vehicles.

Now think about products they might actually keep there:

**Dual-port or retractable car chargers
**Compact car vacuums
**Insulated trunk organizers
**Emergency flashlights
**Auto cleaning kits
**Compact umbrellas
**Reusable shopping bags
**Roadside emergency kits

What makes automotive products interesting is their staying power.

A useful item can remain in someone's vehicle for months—or years—putting your brand in a place they interact with constantly.

Creative Idea: Create a “Ready for the Road” kit for employees, customers, new homeowners, college students, or company drivers. Pair a compact flashlight with a charging cable, cleaning cloth and emergency essentials inside a branded organizer.

It's practical, unexpected, and adaptable to a wide range of budgets.

Sometimes the best promotional-product idea isn't sitting on someone's desk.

It's waiting in their trunk.

Looking for something different from another pen or tumbler? We'd be happy to brainstorm products based on where and how your audience actually spends their time.

Cheap Swag vs. Useful Swag — Are Marketers Changing the Question?

For years, promotional-product buying often started with:

“How many can we get for the budget?”

Increasingly, a better question is:

“How many people will actually USE it?”

There will always be a place for inexpensive, high-quantity giveaways—especially at large events.

But more organizations are thinking about usefulness, perceived value, sustainability, and longevity when selecting promotional merchandise.

Think about the difference:

1,000 products that disappear into drawers…

versus 500 products people use every week.

Which creates the better brand experience?

It doesn't automatically mean choosing the most expensive option either.

A $3 item that's perfectly matched to the audience can outperform a $30 gift nobody needs.

That's where knowing your recipient matters.

College students need different products than executives.

Golfers need different products than conference attendees.

Remote employees need different products than event volunteers.

The best promotional product isn't necessarily the cheapest OR the most expensive.

It's the one that makes sense for the person receiving it.

HOT TOPIC: If you had the same total budget, would you rather give MORE people an inexpensive item or FEWER people a premium one?

Comment MORE or BETTER—and tell us why.

Motivation Monday

Be Useful. Be Remembered.

There’s a simple lesson in marketing that applies to almost everything:

Give people a reason to keep you around.

That applies to relationships, customer service, content—and even promotional products.

The brands we remember aren't always the ones that shout the loudest. They're often the ones that consistently make our lives a little easier.

They answer the question.

They solve the problem.

They remember the details.

They provide something useful at exactly the right moment.

That's why we believe great branding isn't about getting your logo in front of someone as many times as possible.

It's about creating positive interactions with your brand over and over again.

Sometimes that's exceptional customer service.

Sometimes it's a thoughtful thank-you.

And sometimes it's something as simple as a product that earns a permanent spot on someone's desk, in their car, golf bag, kitchen, or backpack.

Visibility gets attention.

Usefulness earns staying power.

As you start another week, think about your own organization:

What's one way your business makes life easier for your customers?

That's probably a bigger part of your brand than you realize.

Tell us one way your organization makes life easier for its customers.

Friday Funday!!!

It's Friday — Let's Hand Out Some Office Awards!

We've spent the week talking about meaningful recognition.

But it's Friday…

So we're recognizing the REAL heroes of the workplace.

Welcome to the first annual:

TOTALLY UNOFFICIAL OFFICE AWARDS!!

Who wins these at your workplace?

**THE COFFEE MVP**
Keeping productivity alive one cup at a time.

**THE FASTEST EMAIL RESPONSE**
You hit send. They already replied.

**THE "WHAT ARE WE GETTING FOR LUNCH?" AWARD**
Asks the important questions.

**THE TECH SUPPORT AWARD**
Not actually in IT. Somehow became IT.

**THE OFFICE COMEDIAN**
Every workplace needs one.

**THE MEETING THAT COULD'VE BEEN AN EMAIL AWARD**
We're not naming names.

**THE BEST DESK SNACKS AWARD**
Everyone knows exactly where this person sits.

**THE ACTUAL MVP**
The person everyone calls when they need something done.

Now it's your turn.

Which award are YOU winning?

And even better…

Tag a coworker and give them their official unofficial award!

Claim your award in the comments and nominate a coworker for another.

Throwback Thursday!!

Have You Ever Received an Award You Actually Remember?

Have you ever received an award that genuinely meant something to you?

Sometimes the reason has very little to do with the award itself.

Imagine an employee celebrating 20 years with a company.

Instead of simply presenting the standard service award, their team quietly gathers photographs, memorable moments, major projects, and messages from coworkers they've worked with over two decades.

At the year-end celebration, they're presented with a custom recognition piece engraved with their name and milestone.

But before it's handed over, their manager tells the story of those 20 years.

Coworkers share memories.

Pictures appear on the screen.

There's laughter.

Probably a few tears.

And suddenly that award represents something much bigger than an object sitting on a shelf.

It represents 20 years of relationships, accomplishments and memories.

That's why the most successful recognition programs don't start by asking:

"What should we give them?"

They start with:

"What are we celebrating?"

Once you know that answer, everything else becomes easier.

What's an award or recognition you've received that you still remember today? What made it special?

Share a recognition moment that stuck with you.

Spotlight Wednesday!!

Spotlight: Awards Don't Have to Look Like…Awards

When we say "custom award," what do you picture?

Probably a traditional trophy or plaque.

But today's recognition pieces can look completely different.

Think custom acrylics, dimensional awards, crystal, glass, wood, metal, mixed materials, desk pieces, and completely custom shapes built around an organization's logo or the accomplishment being celebrated.

That's where awards can get really creative.

Imagine celebrating the completion of a major construction project with an award incorporating the building's silhouette.

Recognizing a championship with a custom piece inspired by the team's logo.

Or celebrating a 25-year employee with an award featuring important milestones from their career.

The best awards don't simply say:

"Congratulations."

They tell the recipient what they're being congratulated for.

Creative Idea: Instead of using the same award every year, create a signature annual award that's unique to your organization. Over time, receiving it becomes part of your company's culture and something employees genuinely aspire to earn.

Recognition is personal.

The award representing it can be too.

Small callouts: Milestones • Leadership • Sales • Service • Volunteers • Donors

Have an achievement worth recognizing? We'd love to help brainstorm something that tells the story behind it.

Hot Topic Tuesday!!

Is the Traditional Employee Award Getting a Makeover?

The traditional plaque isn't disappearing—but employee recognition is becoming much more personal.

Instead of giving everyone the exact same item, organizations are increasingly thinking about recognition as an experience.

A custom award recognizing the accomplishment
A gift selected around the recipient
Premium branded apparel
A personalized message from leadership
Custom packaging that makes the presentation special
Recognition in front of peers

The shift is important:

Recognition shouldn't feel transactional.

A generic item handed out without context says, "Here's your award."

A thoughtful presentation that explains why someone is being recognized says, "We see what you contributed."

And that applies beyond employees.

Schools can recognize teachers and coaches. Nonprofits can celebrate volunteers and donors. Companies can thank long-term customers and partners.

So here's today's Hot Topic question:

Would you rather receive a traditional engraved award you can display OR a personalized gift selected specifically for you?

Or maybe the best answer is…both?

Comment AWARD, GIFT, or BOTH.

Motivation Monday!!

Recognition Costs Little. Its Impact Can Be Huge.

People may forget what was said in a meeting.

They may forget the details of a project.

But they rarely forget the moment someone made them feel appreciated.

Recognition doesn't always need to come with a huge award, bonus, or company-wide announcement. Sometimes it's a handwritten note. A quick thank-you. Celebrating a milestone. Recognizing someone's extra effort when nobody else noticed.

Those little moments help build culture.

As organizations begin looking toward the final months of the year, it's a great time to ask:

Who helped us get here?

Your employees. Volunteers. Customers. Donors. Teachers. Coaches. Partners. Vendors. Board members.

Year-end recognition shouldn't simply be another item on the December checklist.

Done well, it's an opportunity to tell someone:

"What you did mattered."

And those four words can mean far more than whatever is inside the box or engraved on the award.

Who's someone in your organization who deserves a little extra recognition this year—and why?

CTA: Tag someone who deserves some recognition—or simply tell them today.

We Remember. We Honor. We Stand Together.

Today, on Patriot Day, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service shown in the days and years that followed.

We remember the victims and their families.

We honor the first responders, service members, healthcare workers, volunteers, and countless others who stepped forward to help.

And we remember the sense of unity that brought communities across the country together.

At Unbroken Branding, we believe strongly in the power of people coming together, supporting one another, and standing behind something bigger than ourselves.

Today is not about business.

It is simply a day to remember those we lost, recognize those who served, and reflect on the strength that can be found in unity and community.

We will never forget.
