I came across some fun Diesel Fuel Prints history as I was going through boxes of crap stored in the shop.
Pic 1: The original paste ups and films for the 2nd Generation Mean People Suck art.
Pics 2-4 Old catalogs for the stickers I did did (these are between 1991-1995), weird to think I basically started out as a “mail order company”
Pic 5: Before I had a computer all the sales records kept in random notepads and stuff. As much as a fu***ng hate quickbooks/intuit, it’s a lot better than the old school method.
Pic 6: Pro Chioce. F**k. This is the sticker I learned I really need to have someone spellcheck everything I do. My dad (a lifelong writer) laughed his ass off when he saw the error and told me. I was bummed. But I still sold all 1000 of them that I’d printed with the misspelling.
Pics 7 & 8: Escape Goat. I shared a house with them, they were one of the first bands I printed for. The later turned into Diesel Boy , if you want to hear a funny song about me look them up, they have a song called Andy Stern on their first record. Pic * is the garage that I lived in (they were rich enough to be able to live inside the house), printed in, and, ran the biz out of for a year or so. And yeah, that’s my futon that butts up to the press. I do not miss hand pasting up and cutting Rubylith for sticker layouts at all.
Pic 9: Some really early on Lagwagon orders. They were super nice and easy to deal with and made up of members from RKL, who rule.
Pic 10: that one time my Mean People Suck sticker was in Mad Magazine. I fu***ng LOVE Mad Magazine. .magazine
Pic 11: A random envelope from Joey/DOA. Because D.O.A. fu***ng rules. And so does Joey.
Pic 12: A random screen print for Mindrot, my friend Matt (we’ve known each other ins 8th grade) did it maybe in 1991, he also played guitar in Mindrot and a bunch of other rad bands like Dystopia, Kicker, and others. He now has a super rad poster printing shop called Monolith Press, check them out!
