Brand work doesn’t begin with clarity, it emerges through the process.

This is what I wish I could tell anyone that expresses the common readiness myth of “I’ll do brand work once I feel more clear.”

Brand is messy and beautiful.

You process through the vision through writing, somatic practice, time and devotion to your voice.

This is the focus on the 8-week series I’m leading at the start of Spring. To develop your foundation, to name your name, understand your audience, build the bridge to your brand world and eventually arrive at clarity.

This kind of clarity is earned and feels so good as it sharpens within the work.

An exhausting truth about having a conscious business is that your impact will stay mostly invisible.

Occasionally, you’ll get beautiful glimpses of the impact from a person who is excited to share their journey.

But the majority of the time, things feel quiet.
You’re not completely sure if it’s making sense.
You have to trust yourself, your gift, your message.

But I’m here to remind you that your ripple is rippling.

We can’t measure it. We have to just trust it.

This is why Brand Stewardship is so important.

It’s your devotion to using your voice for the vision you’ve been given. It’s a stewardship practice.

Being the steady steward for your vision comes from being so clear and grounded in what your message is, who you are and who you serve.

This is all brand work.

Holistic vs Deep Ecology

Which ones lands with you?

I’ve always seen brand as a web of interconnected ideas, relationships and content.

A “holistic” approach… but using this word always felt like it was underplaying the scope of potential that is the power of brand.

Pulling inspiration from regenerative thinking, “deep ecology” feels so much more aligned to brand as a living system.

It consider the whole system and how it plays on a web. It’s a living structure that you tend to, a reciprocal structure that feeds you in return.

Capitalism has conditioned us to treat our work as “soft”.

This is reinforced when we get feedback like “This is so inspiring, I hope to do this one day.” or “Maybe, when I get the important tasks done first.”

A brand that is built on gentle ideas like,

Regeneration
Somatic Work
Intuitive Motherhood
Ecosystem Restoration
Seasonal Living
Intentional Movement
Slow Creativity

But we know this isn’t light work, something optional or privileges to unlock once you’ve done with real work.

This is the real work — that we’ve become disconnected from.

And all too often I see founders soften their voice, create a gentle invitation — even though behind the scenes they are driven, firey and passionate. You are called to this work because it change behavior and reshape culture.

Brands that intersect these industries cannot afford to sound passive.

But the balance is delicate. It’s a tricky needle to thread.

This is the work that State of Sage specializes in — grounding and activating emergent, healing and regenerative visions. Giving them clarity, direction and… teeth.

For 8-weeks, I’m leading the Brand Foundation Live Spring Series through this work. Grounding into our foundation, stewarding our vision and creating a structure for your leadership to lean on.

How motherhood made me stop softening what I really wanted to say. When I found my teeth in my brand.

When I look at my old brand message, it was good, but lacked the depth I felt. It was not a complete picture.

Nature is sacred to me.
I embody a reverence for it.
This is where spirit resides.
It’s where humans should be.

The further distancing our modern world has with nature creates a separation wound.

I know this. My clients know this.

But I wasn’t really talking about.
I wanted to be palatable, approachable, not too strong.

But becoming a mother, made me understand natures dualities in a new intimate way.

I understood myself by asking her.

Once I dove in head first, EVERYTHING reoriented around this conviction.

My WHY deepened, my voice became clear, and I felt truly reflected in my brand now.

Embracing our deeper WHY is intimate, but oh-so-powerful. A sustainable brand is anchored deep and guides our decisions.
