I have discovered over the years that a lot of meaningful work lives in that very tension of being intentional but also not trying to fully expect being in control of every detail or aspect.
Itās taken a lot of self-discovery over 3+ decades on this earth to understand that emotionally powerful work often comes from my openness, my sensitivity, my observations, and really just being willing to feel things on a whole other level of deep. But this (especially as a creative, or parent, business owner, or community-centered person) usually then requires intentionality, boundaries, and let me say those two concepts can ABSOLUTELY COEXIST.
And I think people-first mindsets, like myself, especially struggle with this because the work weāre doing matters to us wayyyyyy beyond aesthetics and what meets the eye.
The stories, people, faces, places, culture, resonance and impact. The nuance. MATTERS.
Can we collectively say that realistically that powerful work does not always require an abundance of emotional chaos?
Some of the best work does come from encounters we couldnāt plan. Important of course, staying rooted - yet open to meaningful opportunities without abandoning our values or direction.
