By now, many of us have enjoyed the political drama "The Diplomat" on Netflix, and there's a particular scene that I found intriguing enough to watch several times. In this moment, the Vice President engages with Kate about her appearance, prompting me to reflect on my work as an Image Consultant and Style Coach.
I approach my clients with tact and diplomacy, but the underlying message remains: Do you want your appearance to convey that you are knowledgeable and trustworthy or give the impression that you're too busy to take care of yourself?
I've often been to conferences and workshops where leaders and presenters arrive in less-than-polished outfits, with wrinkled clothing, shoes needing a little attention, and hair that could use a quick fix.
What story do you want your appearance to tell? Truthfully, it quietly whispers whether you want it to or not.
