I’d forgotten how absolutely terrifying this game can be when you play it with a good pair of headphones 👻

Hellblade is incredible. I’d forgotten the visceral feeling of being in it: having Senua’s doubts whispering in your ear, like voices in your own head, whispering from just out of sight. The sound is crafted in a way that echoes my single experience of true psychosis😬💙

It is also gorgeous and well written. The crafting of Senuas journey, and her dedication to endure inspires me in these days of dimming fall light. 💚👻

Many emojis have (overly?) specific meanings, (like how 🍆 only means one thing), but I’ve been really liking this symbol ‘🌀’— in its abstraction and simplicity—
as a symbol for the s**t we have been going through for the last year. To me, It elicits feelings of confusion, complexity, and myopia. But also a sort-of cosmic connotation: that the winding path might lead us towards something of value if we follow it 🌀

As a graphic artist and cartoonist, I’m always looking for shorthand symbols and language to connect and share ideas with people.

I’ve been feeling relief in reconnecting with people as we can go outside again, and with people getting vaccinated— and a lot of what we have been talking about is that disillusionment and confusion we have been experiencing in an acute sense, both before, but especially during this pandemic and time of political strife 🌀

I hope that as we all identify and cope with some of this difficulty, we can continue to bolster ourselves, and heal 😌💀🖤💙
