Big news in the wine DTC world. If you’re on Commerce7, nothing changes. If you’re on WineDirect, you will be on Commerce7 within the next couple of years. We very much like both platforms, so, ultimately, everything will be ok. Our hope is Commerce7 makes the transition as easy and low-cost as possible for an industry that’s already struggling.

Great article about all of the great happy hours of the early 2000s, and how they led to creativity by chefs, provided diners the opportunity to try new places, and allowed lower wage workers entry into places they couldn’t normally afford. I remember Oba’s happy hour back in those days - and how we could even enjoy expensive wines and half the cost - and how it helped me get to know the wines of so many local producers. Anyway, it made me nostalgic for those great happy hours, and the success wineries saw from them. It also made me wonder if there’s a role for wineries to encourage the return of happy hours at restaurants (exposure to that young crowd) and/or to create “happy hours” at their own wineries. Great data from Wine Pulse DTC - which is exactly why we make all of our retainer clients get a Wine Pulse account. Not only does it break down your own winery’s DTC data into something we can use to grow your DTC sales, but it lets you see how you’re doing compared to others.

The Wine Pulse weekly report just came out, showing Tasting Room sales recovering in Oregon, not so much in Napa. Obviously Napa has some additional challenges - some tighter tasting room restriction due to higher COVID numbers AND those tragic fires - but we agree with their assessment, “Oregon's balanced approach with a strong reliance on their local customers and affordable but great quality wines, is proving to be a winning strategy.”

Another project we’ve recently completed.
💥💥💥 ⁣

We build our friends at a website a few years ago, which was great, but without an online store (they didn’t feel they needed one at the time). ⁣

Shea contacted us recently wanting to consult on wine ecommerce platforms and wine club management. We talked them through many options, and they settled on . So we got to work. ⁣

The results can be now be found on their new website, which we were able to very closely match to their old website, although this one lives wholly on WineDirect. ⁣

Shea is now able to take orders online, and wine club management has been made oh so easy. ❤️🍷
