Masami Nishishiba, PA Department Chair, attended Fire Chief Sara Boone’s Swearing-in Ceremony. Masami has been working with the Portland Fire and Rescue since 2018, first conducting a cultural assessment and now working with their Equity Manager, Becky Lamboley, developing their Equity Plan. She interviewed Chief Boone for the cultural assessment and was quite impressed with her insight and vision. Chief Boone also came and gave guest lecture for PA 594: Diversity in the Workplace class. So nice to see Her being appointed as the Chief, and have high hopes that PF&R will make a great stride in advancing their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Also big thanks to Interim Fire Chief Ryan Gillespie for keeping the momentum for the DEI effort.
