Update!
We have been very busy!
The wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary!
We had all of our Grandchildren, with us.
We really enjoyed them and was very sad to see them go home.

Okay, I have been fighting with myself.

Trying to keep from drawing another kit!
Well I call it the double X!
It is a mini with more room for everything you can stuff into one!
Flight controller is meant to b mounted on foam tape.
And for FPV it will use a GoPro.

You can see the difference against a ZMR250 clone!

I been working and giving at the office.

Reuben Bray, needed some help with his APM 2.6 he purchased from Witespyquads.com.
He could not get the compass to calibrate.
After going thru the process of trying to get the calibration to stick.
We tested his other board and it gave us the same error.
Turn out we had to go backwards of the firmware upgrade.
Hopefully the issues he ordered a new flight controller goes away.

I am going to mount it in a quad for testing later, this week!

This is the first Phantom 2 shell replacement, we have done.
Took 75 mins.
I didn't like the way the transmitter mounted.

Well I have been given the chance to modify a Phantom Vision 2.
The task is to increase the range of the ship. All using the stock radio.
I have to use the same DJI radio and any boosters I deem needed.

First thing is to go from the little antennas that are 1.1 db gain.
The wifi extender is 700mw.
I am going to put, not one but two 5 db gain antennas.
I will be putting a more directional antenna on the transmitter.
Next step will be to increase the control radio distance.

Addition to original post!

Using the rf calculator
700 mw 2.4 ghz booster with the stock antennas distance would be less than
3.6 miles or 5.8 kilometers.
Switching to a 5 db gain antennas will increase distance to:
5.8 miles or 9.3 kilometers.
If I use a Cross-hair CP antenna, which has 10dbi gain:
9.2 miles or 14.8 kilometers.

So this is all theory and needs to be tested.
But, this is the simplest way to increase the wifi range of the Phantom 2 vision.
Should help increase the video transmission distance, for sure!
