See this page? Pretty, isn't it? Shame she stole the cover image from Sage Adderley, one of the most capable, faithful, and decent people in the world of micropublishing. It's bad enough that too many people these days seem to think that anything they can snag a gif of is their's to use. But when a magazine does it, one about the arts? That's just sh*tty to a whole new level.

An interesting map is doing the rounds this week about most widely spoken languages in the various U.S. states. Too bad that it's evidently wrong on quite a few counts.

P.S. Read down into the comments for detailed information with links about just what the actual data says, the granularity of it, and links to the sources.

There’s a map that Slate made recently that’s been getting a lot of shares. The map is part of a post on language diversity, and it shows the top language in each state other than English or Spanish. We dug a little deeper, and found a few problems.

We'll certainly be keeping an eye on this. We've seen the page proofs and they're just as visually rich and textured as Miss Lasko Gross' previous work, not to mention that Z2 itself is quite the intriguing little venture. And how could we not love that cover?

http://comicsbeat.com/z2-comics-announced-henni-by-miss-lasko-gross/

Miss Lasko-Gross has gained attention for her two autobiographical comics, Escape from Special and A Mess of Everything, but her new book will be more of a fable. Henni is the tale of a young girl named Henni who lives in a structured society where religion is the last word of the law. She goes off…

Any good publisher knows how important it is to know the capabilities and limits of your staff and machinery. And to get the story to press well written, accurate, and covering all the pertinent details.

Seems there's some big to-do at the idea of Marvel creating a female version of their Thor character. Evidently a lot of people are all in a huff as to if this can be done and would it work and blah blah blah.

Funny, kinda seems like it's a little late for this.

How many years ago was the X-Men's Storm a weather goddess? And how many years back was her "Almighty Storm" created? Complete with Norse costume and hammer?

Okay, *calling* a female character "Thor" might be a new thing.

But a Norse mythos female god(ess) of thunder?

A longstanding badass.

And maybe worth a little more acknowledgement as such.
