Since as long as we’ve been creating websites, we’ve been looking for ways to make them editable by our clients. (Anyone remember Ladybug?) Recently, we rebuilt the Swiss Water® Process website on Shopify 2.0, and one part that’s thrilling to all of us has really nothing to do with the way it looks. Their team can update so much on the site themselves now!
That sounds simple enough, but on an older Shopify theme, the homepage is the only page you can really edit. Product pages, collections, about page, etc are all locked into a fixed template. Want to add a section? Rearrange a layout for a seasonal push? This becomes a developer task every time.
Shopify 2.0 changes that. So much more is not undateable by anyone on the team. They are publishing content, updating products, and building pages on their own. No ticket. No queue. No waiting on someone else. That’s a win worth celebrating.
