Are you keeping inclusivity at top of mind? Some things you can check if you’re not sure:
1. Diverse Representation: Consider your marketing materials and ensure you are resonating with all your customers: e.g.: various races, ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
2. Inclusive Language: Use respectful, inclusive language, avoiding jargon and stereotypes; opt for gender-neutral terms. (🚫”hey girls…”)
3. Accessibility in Design: Make websites and materials accessible with readable fonts, high-contrast colors, and alt text for images.
4. User Experience: Ensure a navigable website for all, including those with disabilities, adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
5. Content Diversity: Provide content that showcases a variety of experiences and perspectives.
6. Cultural Sensitivity: Research and respect the cultures represented to avoid misunderstandings. (Words like “tribe” are seen as offensive by indigenous groups when used colloquially)
7. Consider Translation: Do your research and determine if you should provide translation services at your events or incorporate multiple versions of print marketing. Extra effort made to be inclusive pays dividends in how your company is perceived.
Integrating these considerations helps create a more inclusive environment, resonating with a broader audience and strengthening customer relationships.
