Delivering the critical stories of healthcare workers, like Tracie, during this difficult time, could not be more rewarding for our team. Thank you to our clients, partners and healthcare workers who continue to stay strong for the community to keep us healthy.

COVID-19 is still here. It’s still impacting our communities, neighbors, friends, and families. It’s impacting our frontline staff, too, both physically and emotionally, as you’ll see in the video below. But we’re still here, doing everything we can. And we need you to do everything you can, too. Please wear a mask and get vaccinated. And don't forget to thank a healthcare worker. https://bit.ly/3Gs2oc6

When COVID comes to an end, will CEOs, owners, and leaders be more compelled to care for their employees?

Will there be a groundbreaking comeback strategy, or will workers come back to the same old workplace?

Does the company culture, mission, values, and purpose impact the way it comes back and how successful that comeback will be?

How do we embrace and engage an ever more remote workforce?

These questions have been a part of LaineGabriel's daily meetings for more than a month now, but quarantining these thoughts and ideas only gets us the same ideas. That's why we would like to hear from you.

Let's start the conversation into how you see the workplace changing, how it should change, and what changes should leadership expect. Is the old workplace relevant anymore?

Over the last month, life has changed dramatically, and things are not going back to “normal”. Which makes us wonder, to remain relevant, shouldn't the workplace as we know it change too?

For those of us in Employee Engagement, Purpose and Culture Creation, HR, Retention, and Recruiting, shouldn't we see this as an opportunity to take a hard look at what we are doing and ask some serious questions? To see this as an opportunity to make the future workplace better for everyone.

LaineGabriel would like to invite you to be part of that dynamic conversation. What do you think the workplace should look like? What do you think it will look like? What part do you want to play? What commitments should companies make to their employees and communities?

Look for an invitation this Monday to join a fun conversation next week, along with our friend and HR specialist, Adam McCampbell. We hope to see you and talk to you soon.

Your partners at LaineGabriel.

As the Corona virus spreads across the US, we have seen shortages of critical supplies and resources such as PPEs, ventilators and hospital beds. But the worst shortage we face is that of health care professionals who staff those beds, administer the life-supporting medications, and run the ventilators.

There are fewer than 65,000 physicians, PAs and advanced practice nursing intensivists, and about 550,000 critical care nurses in the United States.

There are currently 336,776 COVID-19 cases in the US.

Even in the best-case situation, with a shortage of this magnitude, caring for COVID-19 patients will drain not only resources but their strength as well.

Most healthcare professionals are used to “covering” shifts for eachother, working a few extra hours, and making due with supply and team shortages. But few have been under the constant threat of contracting the illness they are treating, or the fear of infecting those closest to them.

The fear intensifies as supplies dwindle, the cost of equipment skyrockets and a lack of a unified approach leaves our caregivers to fight with what they have, not with what they need.

Now it is our duty as citizens, as it was in WWII, to help those on the front lines. To use our resources to boost their chances of beating back the enemy.

At least 4,800 people with the coronavirus have now died in the United States and more than 200,000 people are known to be infected, according to a New York Times database. The death toll has quadrupled over the last week and now exceeds the number of people known to have died from the virus in mainland China.

We wanted to take a moment to thank the people out there on the front lines of this pandemic. The people who put themselves at risk every day to save lives. Our doctors and nurses. People stocking the shelves of food banks and grocery stores. The volunteers and workers in hospitals across this country. First-responders and our military.

This is a live map and we will update it as we get news from you and across the country of those who are spreading gratitude.

Thank you for everything. Tip who you can. Thank everyone. And thank you.

COVID-19 has changed the landscape for a lot of employees and business owners. Scores of people who were once within elbow distance from one another are now isolated behind walls and windows of their own.

Now, who doesn't want a private office?

But when that office is locked, and no one is coming in to take you up on your open-door policy, it gets lonely pretty fast.

And lonely stinks.

It makes us less productive and sucks motivation faster than watching CATS with your cats.

Since everything from the commute to the after-work get together has been turned upside down, we need each other even more. A little return to normalcy in this new world might be just what the epidemiologist ordered.

What can we do to close the distance while keeping at arm's length?

The pop-in:

Consider regularly scheduled check-ins via phone or video chat, and maintain without fail.

The coffee pot conversation:

Have non-work related conversations like you did before the isolation became a real thing.

The "how YOU doin":

Check in to see how your co-workers and partners are weathering it all. Offer help if needed. Look to help others together.

The relationships you forged in the workplace should be valuable enough to put in a little extra effort that will surely pay off on the back end.

Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the team here at LaineGabriel, I ask that you please direct your attention to your monitor as we review the emergency procedures.

Everyone we know and care for is on this bumpy ride with us. Every employee, leader, owner and customer will be affected one way or another. And what everyone needs now is open, honest, transparent, and timely communications. There is a lot of fear and uncertainty, but regular updates and timely information can make a world of difference.

1. Employees need to believe leadership can handle the crisis

2. Leaders need to demonstrate why they deserve to lead the company.

3. And companies need to be empathetic partners instead of entities.

How we handle this crisis will be judged for years to come. We can sift through the wreckage at the end for answers or chart a better course, starting now.

At LaineGabriel, we have been handling one crisis after another for more than 13 years. So, if you need to communicate honestly and openly with your employees and customers, or strategize for what's ahead, we are prepared for what's to come and for what's next.

The cabin crew will be coming around in about ten minutes to offer you a light snack and beverage, and the inflight movie will begin shortly after that.

LaineGabriel specializes in the art of employee happiness.

Engaging employees requires more than an annual survey, fancy software, and free t-shirts. Creating a well-choreographed experience that resonates with a company’s values, requires understanding a company’s “why” and strategically building a culture around the brand.
