I've been writing a lot about systems - how to build workflows that hold up when conditions aren't ideal.
This one is the most personal version of that yet.
I have essential tremor. Hands, fingers, occasionally legs on bad days. Key combinations are rough. Fine mouse work is slow. Caffeine is a trigger, which as a developer is its own kind of joke.
I spent a long time trying to muscle through it before I realized this was a systems problem, not a willpower problem.
Systems problems have solutions.
New article covers the Mac and Windows accessibility settings most people have never heard of, the one hardware change worth making, and the workflow principle that changed how I schedule precision work.
If you or someone you know is working around tremor, Parkinson's, or any kind of motor variability - this was written for you.
