For more than 65 years, the Catholic Mass aired on Channel 6 every Sunday morning at 11 AM. For generations, this broadcast provided a vital way for those in nursing homes, the homebound, and all who were unable to attend in person to worship and remain connected to their faith community.
Unfortunately, the Diocese of Fall River has made the difficult decision to cancel the weekly televised Mass. This decision was driven by changing media habits and increasing costs.
From Christmas and Easter Masses, to the visit of Mother Teresa to New Bedford, to the installation of Cardinal Seán O’Malley and many other special events, I am honored to share that my company, Sociable, and I have produced these broadcasts for more than 35 of those years.
Today marks the first time in over six decades that the 11 AM Sunday time slot will air programming other than the Catholic Mass. It has often been said that this Mass was the longest-running uninterrupted television program in the country to air in the same time slot.
I'm actively working to secure private funding and an appropriate time period to continue the Mass airings. Unfortunately, we were unable to put those pieces in place in time for this week’s broadcast.
In the meantime, the Diocese has provided a list of alternative ways to watch and celebrate Mass, which you can find here:

Please share this information with anyone who may find it helpful. And if you know of a business or individual who may be interested in helping underwrite the continuation of this broadcast as a service to the community, we would be grateful to hear from you.
Thank you, and please keep this important ministry in your prayers.
