With the Pats’ surprising run to the Super Bowl behind us, the next big date on New England’s calendar is almost here: the first Red Sox spring training game ⚾️

We like to think of our work at New Harbor a lot like baseball. There’s a game every day, and you have to show up ready to win in April if you want a shot at the World Series in October (or November…). You can’t coast until Labor Day and expect to make the playoffs—by then, the ship has already sailed.

Today's work is shaping the Rhode Island of tomorrow. We look forward to working alongside our clients to turn these efforts into stronger communities and a thriving economy for everyone.

Rhode Island, like many states, faces serious challenges this year – some within the control of policymakers and changemakers; others shaped by forces far beyond our borders. Our clients are proving that big challenges don’t require big gestures, just a commitment to start right where we are.

The Hospital Association of Rhode Island and our members are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting that occurred at Brown University on Saturday.

We hold in our hearts the families and loved ones of Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov during this unimaginable time. Our thoughts remain with the patients who are still healing, and we hope for their full recovery.

On Saturday, Rhode Island’s healthcare heroes immediately went to work providing lifesaving care to those injured. They did what they do every day — care for all of us, no matter the circumstances. We are deeply grateful.

These are the times when the 24/7 mission of our healthcare system becomes more sacred than ever. Our hospitals plan and prepare for all types of emergencies and were ready to care for their community when it mattered most. We thank the dedicated teams whose work behind the scenes ensured a swift, coordinated and effective response.

We want to express our deep appreciation to law enforcement, first responders and public safety officials whose work is ongoing. We are also grateful for our elected leaders who have given Rhode Islanders a sense of stability in the midst of tragedy.

We are thinking of Brown University and the entire Providence community, along with all who have been affected by this tragedy.

Progress doesn’t always happen overnight, but it does take strong leadership and persistence.

Quonset Development Corporation just marked a major milestone: 15,000 jobs created at the business park. From advanced electronics to defense innovation, Quonset now supports nearly 1 in 5 manufacturing jobs in the Ocean State.

As Managing Director Steven J. King put it, this moment reflects decades of work and partnership across every level of government and the QDC team.
