This Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

PROVINCETOWN LIVE is pleased to announce our partnership with Sailing For Veterans as part of their veteran outreach offering wreath toss memorials and a veteran's sailing program. Sailing For Veterans sails the SV INDRA in honor and memory of USMC Lance Corporal Jason K. Burnett, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation in Iraq on May 11, 2006.

A message from Sailing for Veterans Co-founder Ryan Burnett:

Jason's sacrifice is the reason why Sailing for Veterans exists.
We believe remembrance should be more than words. Through sailing, camaraderie, and time on the water, we work to give veterans a place to reconnect, heal, and find peace beyond military service. The ocean has a way of quieting the noise and bringing people together — something many veterans deeply need.

This Memorial Day, we honor those we lost, stand beside those still carrying the weight of service, and remain committed to building a community where no veteran feels alone.

Fair winds and following seas to our fallen heroes.

A message from our friends at Sailing For Veterans about what inspires them on their mission of veteran outreach.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday marked 20 years since the loss of four United States Marines: LCPL Jason Keith Burnett, 1st Lt. Michael LiCalzi, Cpl. Steven Vahaviolos, and LCpl. David Grames Sanchez during Operation Iraqi Freedom on May 11, 2006.

Their sacrifice continues to inspire the mission of SAILING FOR VETERANS and reminds us why supporting veterans and their families matters long after service ends.

We remember them today not only for how they died, but for how they lived — with courage, loyalty, and commitment to something greater than themselves.

May we continue to honor their legacy through service, community, and care for one another. Semper Fi.

We sail the SV INDRA from the ports of Gloucester and Provincetown for veteran day sails in honor of their service and sacrifice.

Sailing for Veterans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity organization with EIN: 41-3904339 based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. We are dedicated to veteran outreach and honoring the fallen. If you’ve been following along on the voyage of our friends at Sailing For Veterans, you know that this hasn’t been an easy journey launching SV INDRA — but it’s been a meaningful one.

Sailing For Veterans (SailingForVeterans.org) is about more than just getting out on the water. It’s about giving veterans a place to reset, reconnect, and find purpose again alongside others who understand.

Every sail, every repair, every step forward is made possible by people who believe in the mission.

If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something that truly makes a difference — this, is it.

Support doesn’t always have to be big. It can be sharing the story, spreading the word, or helping reach the next veteran who needs this. SAILING FOR VETERANS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donors can deduct contributions on their IRS tax filings.

They are building something real here. Join as a sponsor at - https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/sailing-for-veterans-sponsorship-support
