NEW YORK EXHIBITION
I am excited to announce my participation in a Tiny Gallery exhibition titled “LAND BACK” in Montclair, NJ. The exhibition will feature photography from Art Heals: The Jingle Dress Project. The Opening Reception will take be on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5 to 8 PM. I have been invited to talk about art and native issues during the opening reception.
This exhibition honors National Native American Heritage Month in November and highlights the Montclair Art Museum's showcase, “Interwoven in Power: Native Knowledge/Native Art.” The “LAND BACK” exhibition features work from seven contemporary Native artists, displayed in six Tiny Galleries throughout Montclair, Glen Ridge, and Bloomfield, New Jersey—all located within Lenapehoking, the ancestral homelands of the Lenape people.

BETWEEN THE WORLDS
The art exhibition “Between the Worlds " explores multiple meanings, connecting the contemporary world with tradition while highlighting the relationship between people and the land. Through a combination of installations, photography, and performance, Katherine Jackson, UVU Museum curator, states, “Tapahe engages people and places while mapping monuments as sacred sites throughout the modern world.”
I am excited to have this show here in the Utah Valley. I hope you can come and see some of the new art I developed during graduate school and images from the Art Heals: The Jingle Dress Project. This exhibition navigates these two creative paths, reflects their impact, and encourages us to view them not as static entities but as dynamic works of contemporary connection. It will be on view from November 12, 2024, to February 15, 2025.

Opening Reception, Tuesday, November 12, 5 to 7:30 pm

ERIN IS RUNNING THE NY MARATHON
My daughter, Erin, has run in the Chicago, Boston, and Berlin marathons. Her goal is to run in the six World Marathon Majors. Next is the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Erin runs in prayer for her relatives and ancestors, especially those who can’t physically run. She is pursuing two master’s degrees in Public Administration and American Indian Studies at Arizona State University.
Erin will be running as a member of the Native Women Running organization representing the Navajo Nation and is excited to be part of this strong group of Native women. This is her last year of grad school, so she’s juggling her time between school and running. For her, running has always been a spiritual sanctuary during difficult times.
To support her run and travel, I am offering a one-time exclusive deal on this print for $100. This offer will end on Friday, November 1, 2024. You can make payment for the print or donate directly to Erin's Venmo at . If you would like to pay by credit card, please message me directly.
We are grateful for your continued support. Please feel free to share this one-time offer with family and friends. Ahe’hee’!

I woke up this morning early, said my prayers, said hello to my mom and gram.
Washed the sleep from my eyes and looked in the mirror, and thought; I don’t look too bad for my age. Today is here, it’s my birthday, and nothing is different physically but spiritually I’ve grown immensely this past year and years. I am so grateful for my family and their love.
I wouldn’t be here if not for them. Dion and I went to an art tour this morning at the Gochman Collection here in NYC—who would’ve thunk—art really does heal—I feel more inspired and youthful. And especially hopeful for the future.
Be good people, be good to each other, this is my birthday wish to you all.

Stopping my Thoughts
I’ve been in New York City for the past two days, navigating the narrow and curvy roads isn’t easy—as I sat at a long red light—I noticed a man waiting for the bus.
I thought, what was he thinking? Maybe the same thoughts as mine, maybe deeper thoughts than I.
We artist think many thoughts—thinking he’s a musician—wishing for our thoughts would subside and allow us time to rest. The light turns green and life goes fast again, smeared across the landscape of the concrete and stoops. (Street iPhone photog)

FIRST SWAIA MARKET
My daughter, Erin Tapahe, has been burning the midnight oil for the past few weeks, prepping for her first Santa Fe Indian Market.
Sharon and I are so happy that she will show her art and talent at the biggest Native American art market.
What an accomplishment, especially while she's still attending graduate school at ASU, and on top of that, she will be running in the New York City Marathon this November.
You can see her this weekend near the corner of Lincoln and Marcy Street; her booth number is MAR 814. Come support Erin and her art, I know she will be happy to see you!
(I took this photograph early this morning just after she went to bed. I can't wait to see what this all looks like when they're done.)
