As a creative agency that creates content for many local organizations, we are dedicated to pioneering best practices in marketing and ensuring the safety of our users. As part of this commitment, we are taking a proactive step towards discontinuing the use of QR codes in general promotions and designs for our clients.
While QR codes were once a novel way to connect with audiences, we’ve observed that a simple, printed URL is not only as effective but also significantly safer and accessible. In an era where digital security and clarity is paramount, QR codes have become a potential vector for compromising user safety and often misused. They can be manipulated, leading to unintended and harmful destinations, especially when used on printed materials that circulate widely. By displaying and printing direct links only, we ensure transparency, trust, and ease of access for all users.
Rather than contributing to misuse, we lead by example. Our approach involves deploying QR codes only for specific, justified purposes. This includes using them in controlled environments with a limited user base (such as print and e-tickets) and avoiding placement in unmonitored locations or on social media. We also prioritize link verification before scanning by ensuring a printed link is available with the QR code.
Join us as we set a new standard for responsible marketing. Together, we can create a safer and more effective promotional environment.
