An update on the sneaker channel I started in August:

We’re not quite at 1,000 subscribers (996 at time of this writing), but we hit the 4000 Watch hours 2 weeks ago. Monetization is SO CLOSE.

Despite the small audience, I’m working on my first paid collaboration now! Most of this is being built on the strength of ONE viral video I made in the first week of the channel being active.

A few tips for appearing desirable to brands:

1. Focus on Authority - Even when your channel is based on a fun hobby, there’s space to teach.

If newcomers trust you to help them get started, brands will trust you to put their products in front of those newcomers.

2. Focus on Quality - when 90% of YouTubers are filming on their iPhones, even using a 10 year old DSLR can give you a huge presentation advantage.

Learn ‘pro’ lighting and composition techniques, and invest in a good microphone. Viewers will take you more seriously, and brands will be attracted to the high quality presentation their products could earn.

3. Be Consistent - You never know which idea will take off. So make all of them. As often as you can.

Just wanted to offer a testimonial and some encouragement. It’s still not too late to get started on YouTube. It might change your life!

Long time no see!

Life in the past year has been interesting. I’ve pretty much decided I no longer want to post content with the goal of selling anything. That means no courses, no ebooks, no private mastermind. At least not in this season.

But when I come across success for myself or my clients, I just have to share it. I started another YouTube channel last month, and we’re already over 500 subscribers!

This is my 3rd channel to reach such a feat, and the quickest by far! You can follow the progress at

❌ Stop letting Drake write your IG captions!

Copywriting is the art of persuasion through text, with the goal of making sales. Back in the day (well before my time), Direct-Response Marketers perfected the art of the sales letter.

Can you imagine going to your mailbox and getting a letter so good, you immediately pick up the phone and drop a few hundred bucks?

Experts have devised several frameworks over the years, but the basic recipe is the same:

1. Articulate a clear problem.
2. Position yourself as the solution.
3. Ask the reader for a direct response.

These days, most copywriting is done online. And with social media running the world, the opportunities to position yourself as the #1 solution to your audience's problems are endless. If you can master the art of copywriting, you can secure the bag for years to come.

So stop letting Drake write your captions, and get intentional about what you post.

Let's get reacquainted!

My name is Brandon, and I'm a Marketer. I started this page at the beginning of the pandemic, in hopes that I'd help simplify online marketing for other entrepreneurs. I had no idea we'd STILL be in this pandemic almost 2 years later...

When my daughter was born prematurely in March of 2021, this page officially went dark. But now I'm back to help you and your business reach your goals for 2022!

While there are tons of specialists out there who will tell you everything there is to know about Facebook Ads, Content Blitzing or SEO, I prefer to use my Instagram and Facebook accounts to help you learn the fundamentals of marketing -- that way you can apply them regardless of your industry. I'll use real examples from my business, and with permission, from my clients' businesses as well.

I love using video to build and monetize audiences. My first business baby just passed 27,000 subscribers on YouTube, and my little comic channel got more than 4,000 subs in its first year!

I also love using the power of Facebook and Instagram ads to maximize reach, so you'll see lots of posts about those things as well.

That's enough about me... If you're seeing this, I'd love to know a little about you and your business. Give me your one sentence pitch in the comments below, and let me know what you'd like to see on this page.

Side note: I was supposed to make my grand return on Jan 1st like "New Year, I'm Back!" But Omicron had other plans. lol

Reminder: Followers =/= Influence.

I started the YouTube Channel as more of a creative experiment than anything else. I wanted to talk about something I liked, and take a step back from always being a teacher.

What I stumbled into was the world of influencer marketing. People making purchasing decisions based on my endorsements online — and companies willing to pay me for them.

I always thought you had to have a million followers for people to trust your opinion on things. But take all these testimonials (and my affiliate dashboard) as evidence — you don’t.

You can build a genuine connection with an audience that cares about you and what you have to say. By being authentic, you can build immeasurable trust with them.

But be careful. The more my audience grows, the more I grow concerned about how my content affects them.

Am I portraying myself as the goal they should aspire to? Am I indirectly pressuring people to spend funds they don’t have? These questions force me to be way more deliberate with the content I create.

Your voice is much more powerful than you think. Use it wisely.

How affiliate marketing can get you paid, even with a tiny audience.

In the era of social media influencing, most people have a plan that looks like this:

1. Create some content.
2. Get a ton of followers.
3. Use that following to pitch brands for sponsorship deals.

What many people don’t realize is that Step 2 of this process isn’t all that necessary.

One overlooked revenue stream is affiliate marketing. You refer people to a company to buy products. If they do, you make some money (usually 1-5%).

This sounds a lot like a sales job. I hated my sales jobs in the past. Who wants to do a ton of work up front and just hope to be compensated later? Nah. I want brands to pay me up front. Right?

But what if the real gold of affiliate marketing wasn’t in the commissions? Here’s a hint — it’s not. Affiliate marketing dashboards contain highly important information that will help you understand the power and financial strength of your voice — even with a small audience.

Take a look at the second photo in this post. Those are my stats from 3 weeks of promoting an affiliate offer on the YouTube Channel. While some may focus on the fact that my 2% commission has only earned me $100 this month; here’s what I see.

* For every 5 people I send to this website, 1 of them makes a purchase. Consistently.
* Each person spends an average of $94.
* I made ONE video and a few social posts about this company’s offer, and it brought them sales of over $5500 in just 3 weeks.

Here’s the thing. My YouTube audience is only 1900 subscribers. But it’s growing every day, not shrinking. Stats actually show that smaller audiences tend to be more profitable. That’s why companies are turning to “micro-influencers” to hawk their products.

YouTube videos have a reach that last a lot longer than a month. My most viewed videos are each 3 months old+.

The next company who wants me to make a video about their product will have to pay me a lot more than $100, because I know just how much revenue it will generate for them.

I wouldn’t know that if I didn’t sign up for the boring affiliate program that didn’t come with a sexy up-front bonus.

Just some food for thought.

Growing on YouTube is glamorous, but it’s also a lot of work. Depending on your niche, it can be very important to build and sustain momentum.

March 20th brought the premature birth of my daughter. The week I took off from producing/releasing videos ended up causing a 30% reduction of the growth rate on the BJ KICKS channel (http://youtube.con/bjkicks). We’re finally back on the upswing, but still not back where we were before she was born.

On the other hand, KDMR Music (http://YouTube.com/kdmrmusic) still performed about as well as it has for the last 3 months, even as my video production stopped completely.

There is a major difference between these channels. BJ KICKS is meant to entertain, and KDMR Music is meant to educate. As a result, content on KDMR Music tends to stay relevant for much longer.

Case in point: my top video in the past 4 weeks was a video from 4 months ago. The number 3 spot was a video from 2019.

Also notice that while the watch time stats aren’t that far apart, I published 22 videos to the BJ KICKS channel in March. I only published 2 on KDMR Music, and the ad revenue still blew the other channel out of the water.

I’m having a lot of fun creating different types of content and watching to see how differently they perform. Stay tuned to my page to follow the journey.

I graduated college with a 2.24 GPA.

If my memory serves me correctly, that’s not even a C+ average.

It wasn’t good enough for a choice internship.

It wasn’t good enough to join a fraternity.

It certainly wasn’t worth adding to a resume to make me look better.

All those entry level “social media manager” jobs? I applied for them back when managing social media was just staring at Tweetdeck all day, waiting for potential customers to post so you could respond to them.

I got rejected. By every single one of them.

I made the mistake of believing it wasn’t just my resume that wasn’t good enough. It was me. *I* wasn’t good enough.

A lot has happened since then.

My graphic designs have been turned into signage and billboards.

I’ve built an audience of over 20,000 people online without a dime of ad spend.

My consulting has helped turn side hustles into 6 figure companies.

And I still look around every now and then like “today’s the day they find out I’m not good enough”.

I’m not the only one dealing with this. So I hope I have your attention when I say this:

Your brain talks to much. Stop listening to it. Trust God, then trust yourself. And keep pushing...

My life shifted in a major way this weekend.

My wife gave birth to our beautiful baby girl... 3 months ahead of schedule.

The next few months will be quite the ride. We’ve been told she’ll be in the NICU for 16-18 weeks, but I know a God who can do better than that.

With that said, the content on this page is going to change up a bit. You won’t be getting the pretty, on brand, blue and green you’ve seen so far.

And that’s totally fine with me.

Thanks for your prayers and well wishes for baby Faith.

Starting from scratch seems to be everyone’s biggest fear when it comes to adding YouTube to their content strategy.

I get it. Learning a new platform isn’t fun. And seeing the tiny numbers next to your name isn’t sexy either.

(Don’t tell anyone I said this, but I feel the same way about Instagram if we’re keeping it 💯. How am I teaching growth with this tiny following?)

But what if I told you... you’re not really starting from scratch?

There’s already a huge audience of people on YouTube (Facebook, Instagram, and even TikTok). They’re just waiting to see content relevant to their needs.

The key is finding out where those people hang out, and how they like to discover content.

YouTube’s search engine is CRAZZYYY. People with no following get their videos seen all the time there. Just tag your videos appropriately and watch the traffic soar!

And don’t forget to cross promote! Got 10k on IG already? Post your new channel link in the bio! Record yourself scrolling through the channel library and post to your stories?

People won’t come just because you built something. But they WILL come once you tell them about it.
