A big beauty brand just drew a line we think a lot of brands are close to drawing.

Olaplex's CMO said plainly: they'll use AI for concepting. They won't use it to generate the humans or the hair in their ads — because that's literally what the brand sells.

When the product is human, synthetic content isn't a production hack. It's a category miss.

Here's the follow-up most brands aren't ready for: if you won't generate the human, you need real people at real volume — and every one of them rights-cleared before they can run in paid. That's not a creative problem. It's an operations problem, and it's the part most brands haven't solved yet.

Where does your team draw the line?

People are talking about your brand right now.

In group chats, in comments, in videos you’ll never see.

We turn that energy into content that actually converts.

👀 Ghost creators aren't customers.

They're actors reading a script, posting under a fake name, pretending it's their own life.

Platforms are already catching it. YouTube pulled 20 channels running this playbook in one sweep.

A person on camera was never the proof.

What you can actually verify is.

Everyone's been arguing about whether AI content needs a disclosure label. IAB's Transparency Framework v2 answers a more useful question: which AI content.

The line they drew isn't "was AI involved." It's whether it changes who someone thinks they're looking at. Prompt-generated imagery. Synthetic avatars. Digital twins dropped into situations that never happened. Assistants you might mistake for a person. Those get labeled.

Routine post-production doesn't. Neither does copy, or an endorsement twin the person actually signed off on.

Worth noting who was in the room: Mondelēz sat on the working group. Their Global Gen AI Adoption lead helped write it. This isn't a standards body guessing at what brands need.

So there's now a defined category on the other side of that line. Content with real people in it, rights cleared, origin you can point to. It didn't need a label before either, but now that's a documented distinction instead of something you assert in a pitch deck.

Which is going to start showing up in procurement. Not as a values conversation. As a question: who's in this, and can you prove it.

If you're on a brand or procurement side: is anyone actually asking you to prove who's in your content yet, or is it still a values conversation?

For years, brands have rented access to audiences they don’t own.

Platforms control the distribution. Customer insights remain fragmented. And much of what a brand learns disappears into someone else’s ecosystem.

AI makes that tradeoff even more consequential.

On This Week in AI, our founder and CEO, Runbin D**g, discussed why Scale Social AI doesn’t see the future as closed—and why enterprise clients are increasingly looking for data sovereignty.

For brands, this raises an important question:

Are you simply renting reach, or are you building an owned customer-data and content engine that becomes more valuable over time?

Watch Runbin’s conversation about open models and data sovereignty—link in the first comment.

If your brand is thinking about how to own more of its customer data and creative intelligence, comment “TWIAI” and we’ll send you a quick overview.

Is the King back? 👑

BK president, Tom Curtis, spent 5 months listening to 2,300 customers before making a move.

The result: a Whopper Guarantee (remade free, every time) and a "Your Way Champion" — a dedicated employee whose whole job is making bad orders right.

Service recovery isn't overhead. It's a growth lever. 📈

☕ Starbucks is skipping the studio and going straight to the source: employees.

Their new partnership with TikTok for Employees turns baristas' brand knowledge and real customer moments into content — no outside creators needed.

The bigger takeaway? Some of the best content a brand can post is already happening inside it. The trick is having a way to find it, use it, and scale it.

That's exactly the gap Scale Social helps close.

Employee-generated content isn't a trend. It's a resource brands are finally starting to tap into. 👀

The real AI revolution in marketing isn’t about replacing creativity—it’s about scaling it.

On August 12, CMOs and marketing leaders will gather in Manhattan for an exclusive AI for Marketing Leaders Dinner.

If you’re attending, come say hi to Matthew Wilson, Global Head of Revenue at Scale Social, who’ll be joining the conversation.

One question we expect to hear a lot:

👉 How do you maintain an authentic brand voice while using AI to scale?

The evening will focus on practical playbooks for social AI, growth, and marketing operations, with candid peer-to-peer discussion from leaders actively navigating these shifts.

Our team will be listening for the strongest takeaways, strategy shifts, and trend forecasts to share with our network afterward.

🏢 Where: Private social club, Manhattan, NYC
📅 When: August 12, 2026
👥 Who: CMOs, VPs, and executive marketing leaders

If you’re an executive leader interested in joining the dinner, drop a comment or send us a DM.

AI is reshaping content, but trust hasn't caught up. 🤝

Last week our team sat down for a roundtable lunch at @ Creator Economy Live to talk about it.

The theme that kept coming back: brands are being pushed to adopt AI faster than they're being told how to use it well.

As AI content becomes more common, audiences are getting more skeptical — which means the brands that protect authenticity will be the ones that win trust.

There's also a content gap most brands aren't talking about: algorithms want more volume and faster testing, but most brands don't have enough usable, rights-cleared content to keep up.

That tension is the next era of marketing, how do we produce at platform speed without losing the human story behind the content?
