My therapist said something in our last session that really slapped. The funny thing is that I see it as a feature and she sees it as a bug.
"You care about your clients more than they care about you. You care more about their business than they care about it. You constantly put more into their businesses than they do in a hope that they'll change their behavior and care about the business the way you care about their business. You should only match their effort, not exceed it. They won't suddenly care more if what they are doing meets their definition of working. Sure they hired you to compensate for their shortcomings but they won't appreciate your 'do more' attitude when they don't have that attitude. All you are doing is creating your own misery because you expect change where no change will occur regardless of your shiny example."
She's not succinct. But - yeah. Well - not sure how I feel - there is a lot of truth there. Maybe it is a bug. And maybe the OS (me) can't tell it is a bug. I can't find the error. Maybe that's been my problem all along?

Meta's Algorithms are all over the place the last 15 days. They typically get bonkers during US election times - but this year seems particularly bad. I suspect they have the "filler content" setting turned way up to prevent people from getting pissy over politics.

Hey! You! You that thinks working until you fry out is admirable and required. You're wrong. I know you're saying "this guy..." - but I was you. I worked and worked and worked and worked. 12 hours a day. Above and beyond. But - was I productive? Was I thinking at my best? Nope. I was fried. I was going through the motions. The part about my job I love, the creativity, the unique approach discovery - it was gone. Dead and gone. I couldn't squeeze out a unique idea no matter how hard I tried. There was no joy. There was 12 hours a day 7 days a week. So... I stopped doing it. There is no point. What's the point of working if it is misery? If you can't be your best don't at all. So I just stopped. Now I split my work with time for fun, creativity, and creating. This makes my work more productive, and my creativity has returned because I'm letting that side of my brain run the show for a while. Slowly over time that side is getting it's strength back which results in better work. In my case, unique ideas - exciting campaigns, and because my analytical side is not so fatigued - better analysis of the situation. The two sides of my brain aren't fighting for control - they are working together.
You may not believe me. Try it for a month. So take a break. Have a hobby. Set boundaries. Make something. Read something fun. Draw something. Paint a picture. Stare at a bird and imagine being the bird. You'll thank me later.

It's incredibly validating when almost every SaaS founder you meet with for a product demo has this "who is this guy?" look and that moment when a light clicks on in their head "this guy is some sort of genius". You can always tell when they are very smart because they usually pivot from their demo to "how can we work together". If you've worked with me in the past, you know I know what I'm talking about on a deep and highly knowledgeable level. It's because I do.

Remember - I consult as well as take on clients for full management. If the SaaS guys think I'm amazing - what will you learn?

Small Business Owners: Reminder that on 7/15/24 Google will sunset Call History and the entire Chat feature will sunset at the end of the month - if these features are important to you - we have a drop in ready to go solution. DM me if you need help. If you have any ongoing chats - you should invite the customer/lead to use another platform to continue the conversation. Good options are WhatsApp or Meta Messenger for your page. You can download chat and call history via the Google Takeout feature.

BUSINESS OWNERS:
I can not stress this enough - How your business is setup on the digital side is CRUCIAL - Owning all your properties and having multiple accounts that can access everything - security - good passwords - all of it. Having everything correctly linked and connected - getting your analytics and tracking right. All 💯⭐🔥
My checklist for my Perfect Setup service is over 800 steps/checks. I wouldn't do all of this if it wasn't crucial. Recovering your lost properties/accounts is painful and sometimes entirely impossible. Then you end up with zombie entities floating around.
