New tips from Pinterest.com. Let me know what you think, and if you've tried any of these tips.
If your monthly views are dropping, it usually means one (or more) of the signals Pinterest uses to decide what to show people has weakened—most often relevance, freshness/uniqueness, content quality, or engagement.
Here’s what I’d recommend:
1) Quick diagnosis (take 10 mins): In Pinterest Analytics, compare the last 30 days vs. the prior 30 days and note what changed in Impressions, Saves, and Outbound clicks.
Then pinpoint whether the drop is coming from:
A few top Pins are declining, or
Newer Pins underperforming vs. older ones
Look for patterns by format (image vs. video), topic cluster, or boards.
2) Troubleshoot the 4 biggest distribution drivers:
A) Relevance / Pinterest SEO (keywords + context): Refresh Pin titles/descriptions so they match what people actually search today (not just clever captions). Save each new Pin to the most relevant board—board titles/descriptions add important context.
B) Fresh + unique content: Pinterest tends to reward fresh, never-before-seen content and original ideas/imagery. If you’ve been publishing near-duplicates, views can soften. Aim for truly new variations—new angles, steps, outcomes, or seasonal takes, not just the same template.
C) Content + link quality: Check for broken links (404s) and confirm the landing page clearly matches what the Pin promises (visual + topic). If you link out, prioritize a strong mobile experience—link quality can impact overall quality signals.
D) Engagement signals: Saves and outbound clicks are key. When people engage, Pins often earn more distribution over time. Make Pins more “save-worthy”: clear outcome, clear steps, strong thumbnail, and a simple CTA like “Save this for later.”
3) Don’t overlook seasonality (common cause): Pinterest is highly seasonal, and people often search months ahead. Views can drop if you’re publishing after demand has peaked. Use Pinterest Trends to plan and post ahead of the curve for your niche.
4) Simple 2-week reset plan
Week 1
Update metadata on 10–20 recent Pins (titles/descriptions + save to the best board)
Fix any broken links or mismatched landing pages
Week 2
Publish 5–10 fresh Pins aligned to 1–2 rising/seasonal keywords from Trends
Track whether Saves and Outbound clicks recover first; those often lead to impressions.
