Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns (January 25, 1759 – July 21, 1796), died at the age of 37 on this day 224 years ago.
His "Auld Lang Syne" makes me cry every New Year's Eve––in many Asian countries, it is referred to as "the farewell song" and played during graduation ceremonies––and I just couldn't say no to creating this piece of "A Red, Red Rose" as a special anniversary gift for a couple who had it sung at their wedding.
"Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run."
Words to "A Red, Red Rose" by Robert Burns, 1794, written here in the Uncial hand with a Brause 1.5mm nib along with the Tudor Rose & thistle motif in gouache on deckled cold press watercolour .
