Day 01: Finding design inspiration in random objects. 🌿

This logo exploration started with a Philodendron Xanadu—also known as Winterbourn—that I noticed in the reception area of an Airbnb during a recent trip.

There was no big creative breakthrough behind it. I simply loved the earthy green tones, the open and happy shape of the leaves, and the splodged water droplets resting on them.

I used that feeling as a quick creative prompt and let it guide the first visual direction.

It was not about copying the plant or creating a final brand identity. It was a small exploration—a reminder that ideas can start with something simple when you allow yourself to notice, create, and see where it leads.

The same thinking is part of every thoughtful visual identity: finding the feeling, personality, and details that make a business distinct—then translating them into visuals that feel right for it.

From moodboard to the final mockups — packaging, stationery, labels, bags, boxes — every piece started as a rough idea inspired by 90s office culture, and deadpan desk life.

It's not just picking pretty colors. It's research, iteration, and a lot of small decisions that eventually add up to something that feels intentional. This is that process, start to finish. 🖇️

I once worked on a visual identity for a client with an imaginative, unconventional idea—something entirely her own.

As we developed the concept together, I could sense how much possibility it held. We explored the direction, shaped the visuals, and created something she truly loved.

But the idea never made it into the world.

I’ve thought about that often since. How many beautiful ideas stay quietly tucked away—not because they aren’t good enough, but because self-doubt, fear, lack of support, or someone else’s opinion slowly convinces us to let them go?

So, this is a reminder for every woman sitting on a dream she isn’t quite ready to share yet:

It’s okay to start small.
It’s okay if things feel messy at first.
Your idea is allowed to grow slowly.
It’s okay if no one understands your vision right away.

What matters is that you believe in it enough to begin.

Because sometimes, the first person your business needs is you.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: Eight Hour — an homage to vintage officewear and retro tailoring, redefining the corporate uniform.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 / 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿
Rather than taking a conventional fashion path, I built the identity around a satirical, anti-work retro corporate concept. Inspired by the mundane, uninspired office style of the mid-2000s—think the utilitarian corporate aesthetic of The Office—mixed with 90s administrative stationery and rubber stamps, Eight Hour bridges the gap between vintage-inspired corporate attire and cynical desk-jockey humor.

From paper-grain packaging and bureaucratic stamp marks to a palette rooted in manila folders, red tape, and post-it notes—every touchpoint represents the transition from clocking in to logging off.

Can we talk about what's happening to logos lately?

They're being treated like an afterthought — a few shapes and colors thrown together because it "looks pretty enough" — instead of the result of actual research and strategy.

And with logos being given away free or nearly free by some competitors, it's devaluing the work that goes into real branding. It's not just about undercutting designers — it affects business owners too.

A copied or rushed logo might save money upfront, but it can cost you recognition, trust, and consistency down the line. And let's be honest — passing off a lookalike logo as your brand's face isn't just a shortcut, it's a little unfair to everyone doing the work properly.

And with AI tools making it easier than ever to generate a logo in seconds, this mindset is only growing — the idea that recycled or generic-but-passable designs are "good enough." But quick isn't the same as intentional, and a business's identity deserves more than a shortcut.

So, let's break down what actually makes a logo good, using one of the most iconic examples out there — Apple:
