Wisconsin could see online sports betting become legal as early as 2026 under new legislation that would place control firmly in the hands of the state’s tribal nations, according to reporting by Gaming America.
The proposal, Assembly Bill 601, would allow Wisconsin tribes to offer online sports wagering through mobile platforms while keeping major national sportsbook operators such as FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM outside the state’s betting market.

Hello friends, readers, and community,
After a brief hiatus from publishing LCO News, I am excited to share that I am back — and returning with a much bigger, bolder, and more far-reaching project called Rez Life Weekly.
Rez Life Weekly is a new independent Native-owned media and news platform built to serve Indian Country and the greater Northwoods region. While news and current events will remain a core part of what we do, Rez Life Weekly goes beyond headlines. This publication is designed to celebrate rez life in all its forms — spotlighting individual achievements, community milestones, small businesses, cultural programs, creative voices, and the everyday successes that too often go unnoticed.
Our mission is simple: to inform, uplift, and connect Native communities through meaningful storytelling that reflects who we are today. Rez Life Weekly will feature in-depth news coverage alongside powerful human-interest stories, profiles, special accomplishments, new ventures, and the voices shaping our communities across Indian Country.
The www.rezLifeWeekly.com website is now live, and I invite you to visit and explore everything we are building. Our digital newsletter will be launching this Thursday, January 22, 2026 and will publish weekly on Thursdays, delivering stories, features, and updates directly to your inbox. Make sure to sign up now to be part of our growing readership. If you were a past subscriber to my previous publications, you are already signed up.
A new weekly print edition will also be launching within the next couple of weeks and will be distributed throughout the region across nine Ojibwe tribes, including all six Wisconsin tribes — Red Cliff, St. Croix, Lac Courte Oreilles, Bad River, Lac du Flambeau, and Mole Lake — as well as Mille Lacs and Fond du Lac in Minnesota and Lac Vieux Desert in Michigan.
Rez Life Weekly is more than a newspaper. It is a growing media network that includes:
Rezloop, our tribal news feed bringing you timely updates from across Indian Country
Reztube, our video streaming platform featuring culture, news, sports, arts, entertainment, and history
The Firelight Room, a space for thoughtful discussion and conversation around the most important and impactful topics facing our tribes today
This project has been built with intention, passion, and a deep respect for our people and our stories. I am incredibly excited about what Rez Life Weekly will become and honored to continue doing this work for and with our communities.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and belief in Native storytelling. I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
With gratitude and excitement,
Joe Morey
