3D Wizardry Lenticular Design Works Specializing in 3D Virtual Gallery Development and 3D Imaging Applications. Applications for Lenticular 3D on 2D printing.

Lenticular imaging is a hundred plus year old technology for printing and displaying 3D images viewable without glasses. It is more well known for the motion effects like flips, morphs, zooms and animations which seem to move as your eyes move relative to the picture or vice versa. We do 2D to 3D photo or graphic conversions with grayscale volumetric rendering for a more realistic look. We also of

fer 3D logo or scene construction using 3D modeling and rendering tools. 3D stereographic capture for scene or object modeling. We can provide quotes on 3D lenticular printing from a print source appropriate for your job. Step aside, conventional chess—there’s a new game in town, and it’s delightfully off-kilter. Meet *The Off-Kilter Khaos Chess Set – A Kingdom Gone Awry*, my latest exploration of form, function, and a pinch of playful rebellion. This chessboard drama unfolds on a 24 x 24-inch stage, where geometry meets politics through seven boldly abstract sculptures.

Crafted through the marriage of 3D FDM printing for the board and finely detailed SLA resin for the pieces, each chess figure is molded from a smooth, porcelain-like resin that invites both touch and curiosity. The designs lean into clean lines and unexpected shapes, stripping down the traditional chess iconography and reimagining each piece with a minimalist yet confident voice.

Imagine, from left to right, a rook formed by stacked circular layers with delicate cutouts, a knight’s head reinterpreted into sharp, angular strokes, and a bishop spiraling upward in segmented twists. Center stage stands the king — an intricate weave of twisting forms that simultaneously commands attention and contorts convention. The queen, tall and dignified, sports a wide-brim hat-like element that lends her an air of whimsical authority. All these sit poised against the stark black-and-white chessboard squares and a deep black backdrop that sharply frames their futuristic presence.

What drives this composition isn’t just shape or technique—it’s a cheeky reflection on today’s political chaos. Starting from simple geometric primitives, I took what you might call an “off-kilter approach” to embody a kingdom in disarray, a metaphor for our current government. The chess set becomes more than a game; it’s an abstract allegory, playful yet pointed, encouraging us to question the order we assume.

In creating *The Off-Kilter Khaos Chess Set*, the process was a fun experiment in balancing precision with imperfection—each piece both familiar and foreign, inviting you to see strategy through a new lens. The minimalist palette and sleek surfaces underscore a futuristic world, while the stylization keeps the mood lighthearted, even as the theme pulls from serious undertones.

If you’re ready to see chess pieces what they might look like if the rules were rewritten and the kingdom took a twist, this set is your invitation. A game that feels less scripted and more like an offbeat dance across a broken board—*The Off-Kilter Khaos Chess Set* is a sculptural play on order, chaos, and everything in between. Take a closer look; the moves are waiting.

This is the first digital artwork I created with Adobe Photoshop 1.0. I had already previewed PS as BarneyScanXP; however, I was unable to take a copy home as it was linked, so that it would only work with the BarneyScan scanner card installed in your computer.

When I finally had my own copy of 1.0 on my Mac IIx (upgraded from a Mac II with a discarded Mac IIx motherboard from Kodak) at home, this was the first image I created. You can read about how it was made in my Retrospective. It started with a snapshot of our family dog, a sheltie named Faye. The work is called "Faye Sprayed".

I’ll admit that the first few halls are scarce on personal artworks; however, I was still waiting for the right tools to appear. I was also quite busy at work.

In Hall Four, I finally have those tools, both Adobe Photoshop and StrataVision3D became available in late 1989 and early 1990. This is where I begin to express myself personally using those tools.

Look for many more early digital artworks in Hall Four. I have all the work hanging in the virtual gallery, and I'm currently rendering the individual panoramas. I've started entering the commentary and links in Hall Four. It's still a work in progress, but there is a lot to see.

I just published my book of 3D Anaglyphs from my Virtual Visions series with thirty-eight 3D works. Currently, it is available for $10 for the online version, in my new Etsy store. The link is below.

To see how the printed version looks, I ordered one. If they check out ok, I will be offering two sizes of the book in printed form.

I hope you enjoy the work, as much as I did creating them!

I realize 3D additive printing is a very different process from 3D lenticular printing. The source material for both, however, is created with the same software tool. My preferred tool is Strata Design 3D CX. I've used it to create a number of my early 3D lenticular scenes. (Poser is used more these days due to availability of content and features better suited to character rendering).

Currently I'm using Strata to create 3D printed textured tiles (2.5" x 2.5") that I assemble into smalll mosaic works. These are two recently printed and framed works. I'm printing on an Ender 3 Pro additive printer. ($259 on Amazon)
