I started this painting over a year ago and for the longest time had no desire to work with her. The amount of messy playfulness she required felt uncomfortable. I was too worried I wouldn’t be able to make her “perfect”. The journey of finishing this painting has been one of letting go of my own rigid and controlling tendencies and finding the freedom to be playful. The fact that I could finally find joy painting her and be able to call her “done” makes her a masterpiece to me!
