A fresh brand deserves marketing materials that feel just as new and intentional.

We loved partnering with Dreamboat, led by Erin Bradford, to bring their refreshed identity into the physical space with custom notecards. We've loved supporting Erin as she continues to grow and evolve her brand.

Little details matter, and every interaction with your audience is an opportunity to reinforce your brand and create a memorable experience. Through intentional graphic design choices and a collaborative process, we help our clients create marketing materials that feel aligned with where their business is headed.

Earlier this year, we began working with dj Johnson of Health in Mind () for a strategic marketing refresh. Along with messaging and positioning in collaboration with Erin Braford, we created a set of templates for social media.

Our team created templates using their existing brand colors, logo, and patterns. The goal was to create cohesive, branded posts that share the message of Health in Mind's therapeutic and wellness services. We had so much fun envisioning how this brand could come to life in other areas of their marketing.

We love helping owners and directors with brand-related projects like this one.

PRO TIP: If everything in your design is the same size, then nothing actually stands out. Whenever you’re creating social graphics, flyers, or website pages, you need to use visual hierarchy to make your message clear at a quick glance. By playing with scale, bold colors, and visual weight, you can effortlessly guide your reader’s eye straight to the most vital details, like dates, pricing, or your call to action.

Work with real people on an experienced team who know how to create impactful graphic design that reaches your ideal customer!

👋🏼 Ready to learn about some folks doing work to elevate the LGBTQIA+ community here in Richmond?

Hangout with us at the Arts District location on Friday 6/12! Here are our speakers:

Tameka Jefferson - OUTRVA
Tameka is the Community Relations and Diversity Program Manager for Richmond Region Tourism. She is responsible for managing the organization's two DEI programs, OutRVA and BLK RVA.

Em Robertson - Queerly Forward Coaching
Em Robertson is coaching neurodivergent folks at Queerly Forward Coaching, helping people build new ways through the systems that have failed them. Their practice is built on a simple belief that self-advocacy starts with self-trust, and learning to listen to and show up for yourself is the path to living more fully and sustainably.

Join us for a light breakfast and great conversations!

Shapes & Colors supports our established clients with continuing graphic design, web design and services.

One of our clients, Turnkey Porch Enclosures, wanted to update their current business card with new photography. We worked with their logo, color scheme and fonts to create a clean card with a QR code detail that leads straight to their website.

If you have an established brand and website, but need a hand producing marketing materials throughout the year, give us a shout!

It's no secret that we love over here. We also love all the celebratory flags we see this month for !

At Shapes & Colors, we work to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ folks. We happily work with clients, contractors and vendors who are part of the community. We're also a member of the where we learn and network with LGBTQ+ business owners and other allies.

=======

The use of colorful pride flags is a longstanding tradition in the LGBTQ+ community. And while many people have likely seen one of these flags, not everyone understands the symbolism and the story behind each design element. Each of the colors and elements has a reason it was chosen for the design.

The original 6 colors: Red - Life, Orange - Healing, Yellow - Sunlight, Green - Nature, Indigo - Serenity, Violet - Spirit.

The arrow pointing right: forward movement and progress.

Black and brown stripes: people of color within the LGBTQ+ community.

Light blue, pink, and white stripes: transgender and nonbinary folks.

The yellow triangle with the purple circle: intersex people - who do not conform to the standard gender binary.

Andy, owner of Farrell Financial, reached out to update his existing Squarespace website. His goal was to have a site that reflected his business' evolution and didn't shout "freelancer". Farrell Financial offers high-level CFO services to small businesses, helping owners gain clarity, confidence, and control over their finances.

Our team worked to brighten and tidy-up Andy's website, while also adding sections like testimonials to up his credibility. We're really excited with the outcome of this project, and to work with clients who business goals and visions reflect ours.

PRO TIP: Use the of your to display frequently requested information.

If your website builder came with a blank footer, chances are it may still be blank. Or maybe you didn't know what to put there so it's non-existent.

Website footers are a great place to display information your clients may be looking for to vet your business. Where are you located? What's your phone number? What are your hours? Do you have social media profiles?

A footer is a great place to display all of this information so that it's easily available on every page of your site. Scroll all the way down and see what you find there. Is it time to update your footer?

Drop a comment if you're checking out your footer 🦶🏼and updating it this week!

Shapes & Colors is closed today in honor of Memorial Day. This federal holiday in the United States is for remembering and honoring the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We appreciate the sacrifices of all of the people who have served, including their families.

I am so thankful for the opportunities I have been afforded as a woman to own my business and create a platform that allows for my thriving. In the US, I have the freedom to choose a life and lifestyle that I love.

On the other hand, I know that not everyone in this country feels or lives with that same privilege. So, while I do honor and respect the folks who have died fighting for our nation, I also acknowledge that the system is not equitable and doesn't afford the same freedoms to all people.

So to anyone serving or having lost a loved one to military service, thank you for your sacrifice. For anyone who wants better for everyone, I see you and I am with you.

Since 2019, we've been supporting Salomon & Ludwin, a locally-owned, multi-generational financial advising firm in the far West End of Richmond.

We created their brand, built the WordPress site and continue to support the client with periodic updates of photos, language and posts. Their team recently asked if we could give the website a refresh, and we couldn't be more excited. Our goals are to incorporate more video and subtle motion to make a clean, beautiful site slightly more visually dynamic.

Is your website feeling outdated or reflecting a version of you that no longer exists? Let's chat!
