The Starr County Commerce Association was honored to celebrate the Grand Opening of Esco Beauty & Barber Shop and recognize an incredible legacy that spans nearly six decades of service to our community.

Today’s celebration was about more than a business, it was about honoring the journey of Elvia Escobedo, whose hard work, sacrifice, faith, and determination laid the foundation for generations to come. What began in 1967 with a dream and a commitment to provide a better future for her family has grown into a lasting legacy that continues to serve the people of Starr County.

As Esco Beauty & Barber Shop enters a new chapter, we celebrate 59 years of continuous service and the passing of that legacy to a third generation of hairdressers. It is a powerful reminder of the impact that family-owned businesses have on our community and the values they carry forward through the years.

Congratulations to the Escobedo family on this remarkable milestone. Thank you for your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to serving our community. We wish Esco Beauty & Barber Shop many more years of success and continued growth in Rio Grande City and throughout Starr County.

The Starr County Commerce Association was proud to be present this past Saturday, May 16, for the grand opening celebration of Setenta y Dos Porción Vintage Lounge, officially welcoming a new local business to our community.

Congratulations to owner Iris Ojeda on this exciting milestone and on bringing a unique new concept to Starr County. It is always inspiring to see local entrepreneurs invest in our community, create new experiences, and continue helping our local economy grow.

We thank everyone who came out to support this special occasion and encourage the community to continue supporting local businesses and the people behind them.
