Motion Control Homepage – Rotary Solenoids Matched to An Application Are Available in OEM Quantities!

Motion Control – The R-09-150 CWN Series of Clockwise, Reverse Shaft Extension Rotary Solenoids from Magnetic Sensor Systems (MSS), available in OEM quantities, features 18 different winding configurations allowing the user to match torque and duty cycle requirements to an application.

These compact 38.1 mm (1.50 in.) diameter motion control solenoids are just 22.1 mm (0.87 in.) long and have two M4X0.7 threaded studs (8-32 studs optional) 7.4 mm (0.29 in.) long on a 22.2 mm (0.875 in.) bolt circle. The reverse shaft has 40 degrees of clockwise rotation, extending 13.0 mm (0.51 in.). Shaft end is serrated for better grip of the attached load.

The R-09-150 CCWM Series of Rotary Solenoids can be specified with a choice of AWG winding of 21 to 37 gauge. Specifying a different AWG for the windings allows the user to control the performance of a solenoid with respect to duty cycle, current supplied, and torque by controlling the ampere turns. As an example: Starting torque of a solenoid at 9 w, 100% duty cycle, is 3.0 oz-in. (0.021 Nm) and start torque of a solenoid at 90 w, 10% duty cycle is 21 oz-in. 0.15 Nm). When voltage is removed, a built-in return spring returns the shaft to the home position.

All MSS electromagnets use materials that quickly lose residual magnetism when the current is removed. The E-05-125 Series has a 10-32 UNC-2B threaded mounting hole on the backside for easy integration into new and existing applications.

The shaft is supported by two high precision radial ball bearings with no axial movement.
Low cost, the R-09-150 CWN Series of motion control Rotary Solenoids feature long life, clean and quiet operation are ideal for: Office machines, security mechanisms (interlocks), medical devices, assembly, sorting, clamping, packaging, shutter actuation, vending, and games. Please consult our Sales Team if another size, higher forces, direction of rotation, or mounting configuration is required.

Motion Control – NEW! YouTube Channel features High Precision Stages from Optimal Engineering Systems!

Motion Control – OES YouTube Channel!

Motion Control – Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc. (OES) has unveiled their new YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/. Checkout their new video featuring the AK110-10-15 Alpha-Beta Dual axis Goniometer Stage.

Goniometer stages can measure angles of objects such as crystals or move an object to a precise angular position along an arc, in relation to a fixed point in space. Two goniometer stages mounted in an alpha-beta configuration (stacked) can rotate an object around a fixed point in space on a spherical surface.

The lower goniometer stage features ± 10 degrees of rotation at a rate of 14 degrees per second with stepper motor and 90 degrees per second with Three Phase Brushless Servo Motor with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder. The upper goniometer stage features a 65 mm x 65 mm table, ± 15 degrees of rotation at a rate of 14 degrees per second with stepper motor and 90 degrees per second with Three Phase Brushless Servo Motor with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder. The accuracies for each unit are; repeatability: ± 4″ (240 arcseconds), typical Positioning accuracy: ± 9″ (540 arcseconds), and typical backlash is ± 3″ (180 arcseconds).

Motion Control – New! Large Three-axis Gimbal Mounts Feature High Resolution, and Four Motor Options

Motion Control Gimbal

Designed for larger cameras, tracking devices, telescopes, optics, and other devices, four new, high resolution, three axis gimbal mounts have been released by OES (Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc.). This new series of Three Axis Gimbal Mounts are 588 mm wide by 463 mm high, and handle loads up to 10 kg. The AU400-AER (Azimuth, Elevation, and Roll) Series of Three Axis Gimbal Mounts feature high precision 180:1 worm gear driven “V” groove rotary stages.

Each axis is capable of 360 degrees of continuous rotation in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. The position is held economically when the motor current is removed as worm gears cannot be back driven. The Roll Stage has a precision pattern of threaded holes for mounting tooling, cameras, lasers, etc., and a through hole for cables and optics. Devices up to 395 mm wide can be mounted on the rotary stage.

Motor options to power each stage include: Two Phase-Stepper Motors (AU400-AER-01), Three Phase Brushless Servo Motors with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoders (AU400-AER-02), DC Servo Motors with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoders (AU400-AER-03), or Two-Phase Stepper Motors with Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoders for position verification (AU400-AER-04). Electrical connections are made using 9 pin DB-9 connectors.

The resolution of each stage is 0.001 degree or 3.6 arcsec with 10 micro-steps per Step Motor Driver in use. Higher resolutions and travel speeds to 45 degrees per second are possible with the servo motor options. Each axis has a HOME switch for precision initialization on power up.

An optional 360 mm x 360 mm aluminum plate with four handles and mounting holes for increased stability is available and these Three-axis Gimbal Mounts can be ordered as a complete plug-and-play system with a multi-axis motion controller, joystick, trackball, or keypad.
