I don’t have many words for what’s going on right now except that I’m scared and sad. 💔

Scared and sad for my clients, my business, and all the other small businesses out there who don’t know what the future holds.

Let’s continue supporting local and small when we can and doing what’s right to protect others so this can pass sooner rather than later.

There are six recorded coronavirus-related deaths in the commonwealth, and 38 people have been hospitalized. 3,697 people have been tested.

While this is a time of uncertainty and new territory for most businesses and schools, I really hope workplaces are accommodating to parents who will need to balance work and life.

One big factor for me working for myself was the flexibility. I couldn’t imagine having a child or two out of school for 2 weeks and feeling the stress of what to do with them because work wasn’t flexible to move online or shift hours. My husband is a teacher, so it wouldn’t be an issue for us, but for many, it is.

Perhaps this is also a learning opportunity for many workplaces for remote and flexible work for employees.

UPDATE 3/13/20 at 2:45 p.m.: At 2:30 this afternoon (3/13/20), Governor Ralph Northam has ordered all schools in Virginia closed for two weeks because of COVID-19. You will receive additional information about instruction, the delivery of food for students, and other services by noon Monday (3/16/20)
