STOP HIRING MARKETING COMPANIES ON SEO RETAINERS!!!
I make SEO magic happen. But the funny thing is…I DON’T want to work with you forever.
Don’t take it the wrong way. I’m sure you’re a lovely person and we’d get along swimmingly.
But I’ve been around this SEO game for a long time now.
And through all of my time in this game I know a few things that most other SEOs will not dare admit to you.
Agencies want to get you in on that retainer. They want to feel all warm and cozy because they know that as long as it looks like they’re holding up their end of the bargain, you will pay them like clockwork.
But all that really means is that they will spread out the work over a longer period of time. And just do enough to make themselves look like they’re working, when in reality they just scrambled around the day before your monthly meeting and tried to throw a bunch of stuff together to make themselves look good.
The truth is that at least 7.3% of SEOs actually know what they’re doing. And they will be able to decipher what your site is going to need within a few hours of working on your campaign.
So why do these marketing agencies spread the work out?
It’s all about squeezing the most out of you that they can. They want that retainer. They want a bunch of those retainers. That way they have money coming in on a regular basis and all they have to do is convince you that they are working on your site.
But really, at the end of the day, all they are working towards is prolonging projects. Just doing whatever they can to keep you satisfied for another invoice.
They are literally banking on the fact that you don’t know any better.
You’ll hear things like “SEO takes time” and “It’s a process”
And that is true. It does take time for the results to come in…but if SEO is a process and it takes time to take effect, why spread the work out?
Why not get in, get the work done, and get out?
Because they want you to stay with them. They are worried about them. Not you.
I would much rather just do the work up front.
Think about it…when you all of a sudden get an influx of new website visitors, what does that say? That you have the information that satisfies the search intent and that people consider your website to be the place to go to get what they came to the search engine for.
And that is exactly what we want.
So why sign up for a long-term relationship when we both know it’s going to end in heartbreak?
I’d rather give you what you want and need. And we part as friends. And if you need me in the future, you know that I’m not going to tell you what you want to hear so I can get you on a retainer and bleed you slowly over the next year or so.
And the best part is, you won’t pay me NEARLY as much as you’re going to end up paying the other guys over the course of your time with them.
And you’re going to get WAAAAAY better results much, much quicker.
